CV axle help

I bought this Tahoe believing it to have a CV axle problem. I’m not so sure now. I’ve got it jacked up, I’m in the middle of trying to change the CV axle and I noticed that the end of the CV halfshaft that is attached to the differential turns freely. The opposite side tire is not off the ground. I was under the impression that the differential shouldn’t turn. I have a video I’m going to try and upload

99 K1500. I’ve done some research since posting my question. It sounds like it should turn like it is, that it doesn’t lock in. Anyone care to chime in?

Hopefully someone will chime in as we like to help but this is the 2015+ section and you may have better luck in th 99 section. Good luck.
