Well the dash on my truck is completely cracked. The top piece is really done for. The crack is about 8 inches long and I see a few more developing on the same plastic top piece. Now I went looking to purchase a replacement and I cannot find one anywhere. Should I buy a dash pad to replace it with? I saw some of the plastic caps that go on top and you have to glue down. I'm not a big fan of this kind of installation and would love to find the actual real piece.

Has anyone replaced the top half of their dash. Its an 02 Escalade so I'm sure 02-06 denalis and tahoes are all the same. I mean chevy has been using this dash design since like the 1800s LOL.

For future reference, protect your dash with a dash cover/dash mat. In 22 years in the hot Northern Cali summer, I have NEVER had a dash crack on me, but had always protected the dash with the cover/mat accordingly.

I don't live in CA, but since I don't garage my truck or drive it much, I thought about buying a dash mat.
Do you guys that use them have any preference? I have never shopped them.

I got a "dashmat", purchased off of eBay.

I dont want to be negative, but ive never seen a dash cover that looks good. either the wrong material, wrong pattern, or wrong color. It always looks like there is a dash mat. My vote is keep some kind of plastic protector/moisturizer (like Armor all) on it and hope to get 10 - 15 years out of it. Then replace when the time comes. My Camaro's dash made it 17 years before it cracked....and we have some HOT summers here.

Beauty is ALWAYS in the eye of the beholder.

In general, I do agree with you, as most dash mats/covers look like an old piece of fuzzy carpet.

Hower, I like mine, as it is color matched and it is a velour type of material, I think it looks great on the dash as it will definitely protect it, and it also gives it some kind of a warm/homie flair.

Can you post a pic up so I can see what it looks like? Thanks
