Dealer has had my '15 Denali for 3 months. What should I do?

The dealer's thesis strains credibility. GM builds thousands of these engines every month across the Denali and truck lines. What part would take three months to source on an engine that's still in active production?

I agree with the advice to walk in unannounced and ask to see your vehicle. While you're there, ask to have a conversation with the GM of the dealership. Keep your cool, ask for a more specific explanation of why the repair is taking so long.

This would take an hour (who has time to stand outside the dealership with a picket sign?), and you'd probably know a lot more at the end of that hour than you do now.

Took my 15.5 Denali to the local dealer (SE Michigan) with a CEL on 5/19. Diagnosed as a fuel injector issue. I had my injection system replaced in Feb'19 so, I was surprised. Dealer gave it back (and charged me $900) to me on 5/30. Drove it to work the following Monday, immediately threw another CEL and went into 'limp home mode'. Dealer has had it since, claiming they can't get parts out of Pontiac. I've opened a case with GM customer service but they're not helpful.

What would you be doing if you were me?
tell you want to lemon law it

Went to the dealer this morning. There doesn't appear to be a timeline for getting my truck back. It's on a lift which shows some thought is being given to its condition I suppose. But, the block is exposed which always worries me and I'm not sure what dangling for 3 months is going to do to the finicky suspension parts.

Anyway, the story is that the head gasket on the '15 L86 (GM part #12700877) was discontinued and there are apparently none left in the known world. A cursory google search didn't turn up any online options with the part in stock. One site listed it as "special order item" and the rest listed it as discontinued.

BBB. That would be my next call, then, after they call you within 3 days, decide about meeting with a lawyer before or after lunch.

If the gasket is discontinued, aren’t there laws regarding parts availability for 5 years or something?
If the engine is the problem, seems like gm should stand behind their product and put a new engine in. It’s nit your fault gm had a design flaw.

Ah, I guess the lawyer will build the factory to make the head gasket!!

I’m not trying to make light of your situation because it does suck. This place is full of great (not) advice from the conspiracy theorists that will only get you more stressed out and won’t help. Unless you want to try and get the truck bought back, contacting the BBB, a lawyer, Trump, whoever will not magically produce a part that is on backorder. It’s all a waiting game at this point. I had to wait months for a transmission to be manufactured for my Cobalt SS years ago that was backordered. There is a process that takes time when a part goes on backorder, which could be caused by all kinds of reasons that can’t be foreseen.

Is this thread real?
I'd collect my car and take it to another dealer.
