Yes hope the moderator is out of town this week cause I’m reposting . I had to repost not enough owners posted before I got desperate and anxious . I wanna know what is your city MPGs. I’m asking cause mine is not getting any better and im anxious dealer says wait till it broken in 3500 miles. IM ABOUT TO BREAK IT IN WITH A SLEDGE HAMMER AND HIT IT TILL I loose all frustration . I had a lemon with my Ford F-250 a while back leaked oil brand new . Now this one has low mpgs 8 Or 9 driving it slow . So understand I Just wanna know if anyone been in my shoes with new Tahoe or Denali .And has had mpg like this and then it improved. The dealer says just wait till it breaks in .And no I havnt had time to go on long trip . I do all is city driving. But not heavy traffic . I doubt it that there can be something wrong with the fuel system dealer checked it out no errors or codes Please contribute I’m beat up over this any idea all your thoughts are welcome

What mpg are you experiencing?
I would think the 6.2 is a thirsty engine, having all that available power. With my 5.3 I’m experiencing 17 mpg in the city. But have gotten 23+ in the hwy. if you’re concerned, get on the open road and take her for a hundred mile road trip. To nowhere and back hone.
Mpg is very subjective to drivers habits. My father and I can drive the same car and his mpg differs from me by a mile or 2 on the same terrain. I’m more aggressive of a driver.
And I mean the very same vehicle not just the same model

Holy shit... Jorge in all complete seriousness why another thread?!?!! You have a thread in the engine & drivetrain section that has 35 replies, 4 pages worth of responses, and activity as recent as late lastnight and early this AM. Which makes your statememt of “not enough owners posted...” not true, not even close.

https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/thr...ahoe-does-mpgs-increase-after-breakin.106639/

You have forum members that are trying to help you out with pretty valuable input and feedback. Yet because no one is telling you exactly what you want to hear you think creating a new thread with a slightly different title is going to change that?!?!

You’re starting to look like a complete idiot. You have broken sentences bad punctuation and most of your posts are hard to read at best.

Moderators can we change OP’s username from “Jorge1313” to “WatsUrMPG” ?

Jorge you are skating on very thin ice here..This will be your LAST and FINAL Thread on your MPG'S.

Everyone here has been more then happy to help you. You refuse to take a day off or plan a day to take your RST on a road trip to Georgia or some other place with a lot of highway driving. Until then stop complaining.

not really surprised if it is city mpg....the dash will show less than 5mpg in my 6.2/6sp with any kind of acceleration no matter how lite.
combined average, for the way i drive, is like 12 mpg  but ive gotten about 18mpg highway on a few 400mile+ trips

but yea echoing what cmoore has said.... its full size suv, largest engine available, performance package, heavy wheels, heavy brakes. all city driving not just the miles covered but time spent not moving and idling, if the truck doesnt warm up itll burn more fuel to get there in those short trips... not surprised at all with 9mpg

Guy....you have literally one of the BIGGEST SUV's made, with the BIGGEST ENGINE you can possibly get.

You're not going to get phenomenal gas mileage with it.

People don't buy these trucks for the MPG. MPG is one of the last things that should be on your mind when buying something of this size.

I would check my tire pressure. And add 2 lbs to the door sticker recommendation. If 35 psi is recommended, I’d do 37 psi. Don’t use premium gas unless it’s calked for. Close all windows and sun roof. Keep a/c to a minimum. Make sure oil is at recommended levels. Use full synthetic. And make sure your air filter isn’t clogged.
Check tranny fluid.

Then go for a long highway ride. 100 miles each way and the report mpg. I think you have a heavier foot than you believe yourself to have.

I wasn’t complaining just wanted to get more info and yes everyone been helpful no complains And Miami Dade staff member I hear you . You been helpful too. I been waiting the 500 mile mark to take on trip to use cruise control and the manual does not want a constant speed first 500 and plus asks you to keep 55 mph or less until you reach 500 miles . Here a cut from manual

New Vehicle Break-In
Caution
The vehicle does not need an elaborate break-in. But it will perform better in the long run if you follow these guidelines:
. Keep the vehicle speed at 88 km/h (55 mph) or less for the first 805 km (500 mi).
. Do not drive at any one constant speed, fast or slow, for the first 805 km (500 mi). Do not make full-throttle starts. Avoid downshifting to brake or slow the vehicle.

I been listening to everyone advice no complaining I taken in a lot of info and learned from it . And I feel happy here in this forum.... Everyone lends a hand...

You don't even have 500 miles on the engine and you're freaking out about the mpg?

I get 8-9mpg with a 6.0 so I would say you're lucKy to get anything close to that with a 6.2.

This has been my best forum thread I asked . That what I wanted to compare someone who has almost near engine size and see if it was my Tahoe with an issue of fuel so I guess I’ll be around there and I can forget the the sticker on epa 14 miles in the city I guess that snake oil the epa sticker. Your response has helped me a lot. I don’t know to many here with the 6.0 or 6.2 engine people here . Just only a few and there city driving sounds way off to mine thought it was my tanoe . I guess I’ll be more patient and wait and see what happens I guess the Epa sticker threw me off a lot and made me go nuts.......
