WOW! I just called my dealership to ask how much it's going to cost me to replace the cover and the super awesome tech said he'll just do it under warranty! Super HAPPY!!!!

That's awesome.

But dude. Tell me at least it was a touchless car wash...

I had to google touchless car wash and watch a video lol. Defly not a touchless car wash. I alternate between the the regular car wash, the one with brushes that beat your car and the hand car wash. Touchless isn't in my area and it doesn't look like it would do a good job.

On my old truck, I used to get it washed at least once a month but you can clearly see the spider webbing on the clear coat, it's really bad up close. I don't get this washed as often but I also don't drive it as much as my 2002.

I doubt it is the carpet. I have my Chocolate Lab run around in that interior like the playground... thats just a blanket for my tools. He rides shotgun with me at front and jumps in the middle bench seat.

My 2014 Porsche Cayenne had the Leatherette type of seat covering. I liked it a lot. No stretching ,no cracking, and wore like iron. If I had the box to check as to what kind of seat covering I could have . I'd choose it.

So they finally replaced the seat cover for me under warranty. Had to take it back twice cause the first time the idiot tech thought it was brought in because the leather was separated and just pinned down the ripped cover. Not complaining cause they did do it. I'm 99.999% sure it happened at the car wash cause I took her to get washed today and they literally rip the mats out right across the seat, dumbasses! And since it's that long mat in the second row it'll have a good chance of tearing into the seats so just be aware.

****** car washes are the primary reason I started up my detailing business. My local one is terrible. I have had so many people call and ask me to fix the car wash scratches and mistakes and now have life time customers. I just can't deal with how disrespectful many of them are with people's cars. It's just wrong. I was **** a better job washing my truck than when I would take it in for a detail. So hence I started my business and luckily met an old timer on the business that was willing to train me. I treat every car as if it's my own when I'm working on it. And I'm so meticulous with caring for my leather interior.

I agree that most car washes are crap but my primary reason for getting the car washed is to make sure the underbody is clean of the salt and brine they put on roads over here in NJ. Getting a car detailed will make it look beautiful but if the underbelly is rusting away it's pointless in my opinion.

I have to agree, I had some German product who had leatherette as wore amazingly over the years, but that is not to say I had the same experience with other kind of leatherette, we had a Chrysler product with it and it cracked after 3 years. I can't say I was surprised.

Leatherette does last a long time if not forever but my biggest pet peeve with it is that it's not leather. There's a certain smell and feel with leather that doesn't exist with leatherette. In my old truck, if it's not opened for over week, the leather smell is wonderful when it is. But if I had the option today, I would choose leatherette only cause of its durability.
