Diesel Appropriate?

All the major Euro manufacturers make them. They are considered better engines for all purposes.

Largely because of how they fraction their raw crude, they get more diesel & less petrol per barrel of crude oil. We fraction our raw crude differently.
As for the cylinder size, in Europe, for reasons I don't completely get,
cylinders over half a litre are taxed more heavily, in petrol engines as well as turbodiesel engines.

Regardless of petrol or turbodiesel,
the most common 4cylinder displacements are 2 litres or less,
the most common 6cylinder displacements are 3 litres or less.

You couldn't GIVE me a diesel vehicle. They're noisy, they smell, and for some reason, the people that own them will almost never turn them off. They just LOVE to let them idle. Go with gasoline.

The Duramax isn’t noisy and doesn’t smell at all… except maybe when the regen occurs. You’re thinking of the old school engines. I enjoy 25-30mpg on the highway regularly and I’ve yet to get worse than 20mpg on a tank over 5,000 miles.

I think that this theme about the diesel being inappropriate for daily use and being better for long haul driving is a fallacy. I have never ever seen a manufacturer warning not to use these for short haul daily driving. Maybe people say this based on their experience with big diesels, I dunno, but this type of turbo diesel, four pot and six pot, half liter per cylinder, is in use all over Europe and Asia. Yeah no kidding. GM engineers aren’t going to design a massive SUV that caters to North American soccer moms that won’t be compatible with 90% of their driving habits.

thanks everyone for the info!! Let me ask this.... I'm HOPING that the prices on the 2025's come down, but I doubt it. I guess it would be LM2 vs LZO
