I might be trying out another NNBS (had an 08 Tahoe LT briefly)- the dealer my wife works at took in a higher mileage (140K) but very clean 07 Yukon SLT (one local owner) on trade.

Of course the dash is cracked......

Has anybody replaced one themselves? I'm trying to get an idea of what's involved.

thanks.

Its not hard at all. Just need some time and standard tools (7mm, 10mm, phillips, some extensions). Basically youll be removing all the trim first (around the radio, AC Vents, A pillars, drop the glove box, knee bolster, upper dash trim). once those are removed, then its just a matter of removing all the 7mm / 10mm around the dash carrier. The passenger airbag is easy, its four 10mm plus the plug (dont worry about disconnecting the battery, its not going to go off). Tilt the wheel all the way down, and shift all the way down to get the cluster out.

The hardest part once everything is loose will be getting the old one around the steering column / new one around the steering column. I've done at least 50 of these and I always remove / install thru the passenger door. Dont be afraid to violate it somewhat to get it around the steering column and shifter. once you get it set back in place, its just a matter of reclipping your wiring harnesses and bolting back up. I dont have any pictures of the installs, but for a first timer - it will probably take about 2 hours. If you have any questions Ill be happy to answer.

Thanks Ryan... Turned out a lifter was failing in the engine and needed to be replaced with the cam (that was why the truck was traded in). The job turned a great deal into a so-so deal so we let it go....

We're watching for an 08 or newer and chances are the dash will be cracked too so good to know its not too bad a DIY job to replace.

Thanks!
