Do I need a transmission cooler on a 2012 Yukon Denali?

Yes, it comes with a separate transmission cooler. I just replaced a leaky line on mine. Just thinking about this, and I didn’t really pay too much attention. But the line I replaced went from my radiator to the transmission cooler. So, I’m thinking the system is redundant, going from the radiator transmission cooler to another external cooler.
The cooler in the rad helps warm up the tranny in the winter. Yes a bit redundant but it does have a purpose. I have disconnected the rad cooler before and never had any problems. But I could feel it took longer to warm up by how it shifted. I have both now. Still need a temp gage tho.

Would bypassing the radiator altogether and just going straight to the cooler cause issues?
