The cooler in the rad helps warm up the tranny in the winter. Yes a bit redundant but it does have a purpose. I have disconnected the rad cooler before and never had any problems. But I could feel it took longer to warm up by how it shifted. I have both now. Still need a temp gage tho.Yes, it comes with a separate transmission cooler. I just replaced a leaky line on mine. Just thinking about this, and I didn’t really pay too much attention. But the line I replaced went from my radiator to the transmission cooler. So, I’m thinking the system is redundant, going from the radiator transmission cooler to another external cooler.
