Hello everyone, new here and I'm not sure this is the right section to post this under but here it goes. I have a 1995 5.7 2 door tahoe 4x4 that I finally have enough time to work on. I found this unhooked plug on the driver side of the engine, right behind the power steering reservoir. Does anyone know what it is and where does it plug in to? Thanks in advance.IMG_20200716_184941.jpg IMG_20200716_184724.jpg

first guess is brake fluid level sensor, look at your brake fluid tank and see if it goes on or under there or the on the proportioning valve

on my 97 i only have 1 plug with a single wire that goes to that side. yellow arrow indicates where mine plugs in. its a sensor under the manifold in the middle.

AC compressor? What color are the wires? Trucks of that age have alot of re-routed wires-not where they belong. Look around for what it plugs to. Coolant temp sensor around there too.

It definitely is for the temperature. And it goes connected to where drakon543 pointed out. I had tried connecting it there but it would slide right back out. The problem was that the sensor this connects to has the plastic tip broken off and it had nothing to clip onto. I believe the sensor is for the temperature gauge. I've never driven the truck so I did not know which gauges were working or not. I'm just doing all the basic maintenance before I turn it on and while changing the spark plugs I noticed this loose wire.

you can change the sensor out for a new one just be prepared to slap the new one in as soon as you take the old one out since there "should" be coolant in there.
