Does bad dealer service cost GM money? Yes.

I was in the market for another car. I ended up buying another Ford Crown Victoria (image below). Why? Because during one of my last most recent purchases I bought the Tahoe. And I was immediately dissed off by their service department cutting corners and trying to save GM every penny they could.

I don't have to worry about my local Ford dealer. If something is broken or in question, they will replace it without asking a lot of questions or scratching Ford's back.

Nice Crown Vic. My first car was a 94 Crown Victoria and it was really reliable. I especially like the Mercury Marauder.

So you have a bad gm dealer. Guess what, there are bad ford dealers as well. Not sure why you keep bashing gm time after time on a gm forum. If you hate gm so much, why do you even have a tahoe ?

Well, it was nice having you around. Guess you'll be on the ford forums from now on?

Not trying to be mean, but you've been no help here over the last few months except for bashing GM (like this thread). Most people on this forum are here for help customizing and upgrading their truck, so you really have no reason to be on here if all you do is bash a product we already own...

My GMC dealer is not that great to be honest.

However I have a couple Chevys and my local Chevy dealer is good most of the time.

There is another Chevy dealer nearby that I did business with before that is crap though (one of the biggest around me).

How are imports? I don't know and don't really care. Audi dealer before was ok.

Cadillac dealer had terrible sales practices but good service.

The point I'm trying to make is that there are crappy dealers everywhere and they are not even owned by the manufacturer. Dealers are not trying to get GM any more money, just themselves. GM makes the same on cars/parts it sells.

I have to say, as dealerships go, they are the same as the vehicles we drive; there are good ones and there are bad ones. You just have to take the time to find the one that does business with the customer in mind. Personally I think brand bashing is kind of silly, in today's market, with the available technology, etc. All of them are pretty equal whether they be Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Toyota or what ever. Every brand produces lemons and every brand produces great vehicles. The same holds true with dealerships, some get it and some don't.

If the Ford and the your local Ford dealer works out for you, that is great, but I am not sure how your bad experience with a particular Chevy dealer is grounds to post a thread bashing Chevy in such a general way. Here locally, we have one Chevy dealer and I have to say, while they have a lot of turn over in the folks actually doing the work, the service guys have ALWAYS been up for answering my questions, helping me troubleshoot things and helping me in any way they can. This is while they KNOW I am working on and in a LOT of cases calling them to help me diagnose or hunt down an issue with one of MY customer's vehicles. But then again, there is a Ford dealership close to me that does the same thing.

Good luck with the CV, hope you get everything you wish/hope for and more from it.

I guess a couple of you missed the boat as far as what question I was asking, and what point I was trying to make. Does bad dealer service cost GM in the long run. Yes. I just gave you a prime example. I could have bought another Tahoe, a Yukon, a Suburban, or even an Impala LTZ. Maybe if GM knows bad dealer service ends up costing them in the long run, they will try to do better and stop thinking about making record profits again next quarter. They should be happy to have repeat customers, but they won't if they keep fooling around on warranty repairs and safety issues like they have lately.

I have seat belt recalls pending on both of my new Impalas right now. The dealer says drop them off and they will get to them as soon as possible. I asked, 'You mean like today?" They said, "No, we are booked up for 3 days, we will get to it sooner or later!" Neither seat belt recall has been done and I will be glad to explain it to the National Transportation Safety Board if they want to ask.

As fas a mods and customization, I am not into all of that. You spend a fortune and never get a penny of your money back when you sell. I myself would not buy a lowered Tahoe, a Tahoe with black wheels, a debadged Tahoe, etc... But, that's just me.

You must forgive anyone that may have misunderstood that you were actually asking a question. By the way you posted it, it just sounded like you were trying to be sarcastic by asking a question you were not actually expecting an answer to.

As for the response from the dealer about the seat belt recall, honestly, I have to wonder if they weren't actually that busy in the service department. In this economy, more people are servicing and repairing what they heave instead of purchasing new vehicles and because of this most dealerships are covered up with more work than they can handle. I know this is true locally.

You must also take into account the human factor in the response from the guy working the service counter. Yes, they should always be professional and say what they mean and mean what they say; but walk a day in their shoes; trying to make sure that every customer is happy and never say no are tried and true training phrases in customer service, but sometimes they will make a statement like "whenever you are ready" or something to that effect, when in actuality they really mean, let's schedule you for an appointment so that your car/truck isn't sitting here for days and we are not just trying to "fit it in". Not to mention, with the record number of people repairing and servicing what they have instead of buying new, you can bet that the service managers, etc are dealing with one impatient person after another, many of which will refuse to cut them ANY slack whatsoever. It is definitely NOT a job I personally would want.

You're just like my brother, who won't so much as remove anything GM slaps on the Chevy pickups or Tahoes he purchases. Me? I started ripping stuff off and throwing it away as soon as the 2010 Tahoe was parked in my driveway the day I drove it home. I NEVER purchase anything with any intention of selling it. It's mine and I'm going to fix as many of the GM defects as I can!

And don't let anyone keep you from posting! Your point of view is as valid as anyone elses! :waytogo:

It's one thing to have an opinion. It's another to piss in everybodys Cheerios. Have a good time with your Crown Vic. I drive Chevy because Ford was my first car, and the dealer sucked. I hope you have better luck with your Ford and dealer than I did when I had one.
