Does GM ever alter an order on their own?

My truck was built and is in transit, however I noticed it does not have the power steps installed as I ordered, only the fixed black steps. It was rolled over from a 2022 to a 2023. Does GM ever alter an order without the dealer knowing? I am very frustrated, and considering my options. I am spending a ton of money, and don't want to settle for half-measures. Are the power steps on constraint?

Salesman claims GM had to have altered it, and it wasn't them.

If it is something you cannot live with, they should refund and let you start all over again. Or, come to an agreement like the dealer installing them at no charge.

Yea u should be able to have the dealer install them and ask for factory price.

Check the worksheet that you should have been provided when the dealer placed your order. They could have made a mistake and forgot to include that option.

This is my fear. My order is at status 2051 and my dealer initially said I’d be made aware of what is on constraint prior to the build starting. Now he claims we won’t know until status 4000. I’ll be frustrated if something I want isn’t included!

Sorry you have to deal with this. Do you see the option on the 2023 order build sheet or the 2022 build sheet? Switching the order from a 2022 to a 2023 is a manual process, the order has to be re-submitted as a 2023. I would suspect the option was either missed or it was on constraint and the dealer didn't tell you about it.

As others have said the best bet at this point is either to reject the order or insist that they install this option at the dealer. I doubt they would eat the entire cost of a $1745 option but should offer it to you at invoice price. After all, your price on the 2023 should have gone down by that amount with the option removed (but of course there would have been 2023 price increases in place). Good luck!

Your dealer should have provided you another worksheet for the '23 when he resubmitted the order for verification. As somebody else mentioned, the dealer has to manually resubmit the rollovers from 22 to 23

If I re-order, is it true that GM simply won't pickup the order if the steps aren't available, not change the order itself?
