Thanks Red. Perhaps I haven't hit upon the holy grail of information yet. There is a lot of conflicting info which caused me to question what I was being told. I think I have enough to investigate a bit closer now.

Thanks again for your help.

I installed (ok, well my buddy installed) the jbls today. They sound good, but not night and day like i imagined in my mind, lol. I installed the drivers side front first, and compared it to the stock bose switching back and forth between the two and the jbl did sound much crisper. All in all im happy with them and would do it again if i had to do it over. Keep in mind my stock speakers were fine and still sounded good, so if u have blown or busted speakers the jbls will make you extremely happy.

One thing we did notice and may have just been low batteries in our multimeter, but the rear doors show closer to 3 ohms, the fronts were clearly 2 ohms but the rears fluctuated between 2.8 -3.5. They sound good though, plus i dont play my music at crazy volumes anyhow, so hopefully theyll last a while and wont cause any issues.

I am running them off a 4ch with 100 per speaker. Also didn't have the bose setup so not sure in that aspect. But from stock non bose to the jbls it was a night and day difference. Also to get more midbass out of any aftermarket speaker you need to dynamat the doors and seal up all the large holes. It helps alot and gives a much warmer/fuller sound.

I think it was batteries in your meter or maybe the speakers were on their way out; I just measured my old rear speakers and they're both right at 1.9 ohms. The Bose are decent speakers on their own so I didn't expect a night-and-day difference. Maybe for the non-Bose though , as YukonXL04 stated. For the money, the JBL's are definitely worth it.

If you're talking about the wiring connectors, then yes. You'll need to get some crimp connectors.

Yep. Had to pull those entire units out and modify them quite a bit to get the JBL 6.5's to fit. Grinding down the tabs will not cut it...
