I have an 04 Yukon with a 5.3 and AWD.
2004 Yukon vibration type noise on decel and acceleration

I have a vibration type noise when slowing down below 20 mph and it goes away when i shift into neutral. It almost sound like a cupped tire type of road noise. I installed brand new tires 100 miles ago. The old tires were cupped. I also hear a whining noise when I maintain a slow speed and bring engine rpm up from coast to very slight acceleration. Seems to be a front differential type of noise that you'd hear in the rear diff between the ring and pinion gears. Could this be in the transfer case or a front axle issue?

drive line noise

The main concern is that when I put the trans in neutral the noise goes away. That really has me wondering. It has the Stabili Trac system. If I had a bad tire or rear diff and drive line problems, they'd be there in neutral too I'd have to say. The front axle was low in oil when I go the vehicle and I topped that up. The dealer supposedly serviced it since new with checking all fluid levels. The transfer case was over full and the rear diff to the minimum level. I do hear a whine sound coming from the transfer case in Park when I lay under the vehicle.

I'd look at the front diff & t-case. I see a lot of awd trucks develope t-case noise. May be rebuild time but first I'd double check all the fluid levels.

T case noise.

I checked the fluid level when I bought the truck and the T case was overfull. The front diff was pretty low in fluid. I might have two problems. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I just put $1000 in tires on it, installed new front hub bearing assy. Maybe it's time to unload this money pit with 106K miles on it. I have to install dash stepper motors as the coolant gauge has swirled around to 7 o-clock position.
I have a ticking sound coming from the interior right real panel. $$$$$$
Also a trans coolant line leaks. The power steering pump is whining like my EX wife. I didn't hear these noises when i road tested it when buying it. :(
I really want a 2006 or older Yukon/Tahoe cause he seats fold down flat. In 07 they revamped the interior and now they don't fold flat.
One head ache after another!!!!!

Front diffs are fairly common issues on the AWD Denalis. the aluminum case is weak. If you get 100k out of one before it needs new bearings your doing well. you pull it and take it to your shop (Six States Dist if you have one) it's less than $500 to rebuild it unless you need a gear set.
