I'm embarrassed to ask, but it's driving me bonkers ... where is the location of the rear window defrost switch/button on a 2005 Tahoe?

My only saving grace (maybe) is that I can use the excuse that this is my first Chevy vehicle (coming from a Ford Explorer). Liking the Tahoe much better. :happy3:

I've looked in the owner's manual ... Googled it, etc... no luck. In addition to pushing / prodding every button I can find. The 2005 is a LS model.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Are you sure it has rear defrost? Does it have the grid on the rear windows?

If your interior looks like this, it is below the defrost/panel/floorboard control:

Thanks BirchyBoy ... yes, I have a defrost grid on the back window, HOWEVER, that button below the output control you've illustrated / mentioned is blank (no icon) in my vehicle and it doesn't actually depress or anything when you try to push it.

Hmmmm..... now I'm second guessing myself and will have to triple-check the back window for the defroster wiring / grid. I'm 99.9999% certain it's there. I'll reply back once I get home and can look. Love my Tahoe, but not the gas mileage for my daily work commute. :)

Its also possible that the previous owner replaced the AC panel with one from a truck with no defroster.

It seems odd to me that a 2005 Tahoe would have come with no defrost?

Yep - back window has the defroster, and Nope - no active button to turn it on. So at one point something was swapped out it looks like. Bummer! Stinks not having a rear window defroster that works.

That does stink indeed.

I would imagine it not being too difficult to get that button and to wire it back up? The wires are most likely right behind the dash.

The local dealer should be able to check in their GM database if this vehicle was originally equipped with the rear defrost.

Again, it seems odd to me that a vehicle in 2005 would have been built without this feature.
