Stewie, could you provide a link please? I tried searching 99 Yukon electric water pump HERE, and all I got was a mr. gasket universal electric water pump with pulleys and such. Nothing specific for the vortec.

I wonder why no Vortec listing ... the Vortec is externally the same as a std Gen 1 SBC ... I have one on a stand at home. Nothing special ...

IDK, but I can't anything specific to a vortec. There must be some peice of something on the block that sits in the way of the pump that stops it from mounting like the TBI's.

Here is the blue one:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CMB-12-0007/

What seems to kill the application fit is using gmc yukon instead of chevy tahoe. Since you have the yukon call Summit with their part number and find out why it won't crossover.

I did it by year, and by engine size. For my '96 with a 5.7, I got this:

I used the Link I posted, tried every year from '91 to 2002, the same results came up. Apparently, there is NO difference for a water pump from a TBI setup to a Vortec.....

Just to throw more mud in the water.

I found THIS at Summit.
It's a Proform manufacturer water pump. Says it's good for years 67-00. Look at the details though. It's not good for a motor with a serp belt!

So I looked at the links provided by you guys. Both sets of water pumps are Summit branded, and the manufacturer part numbers are summit numbers as they don't show up in google anywhere else. Take a look at the pics, they look like the Proform manufacturer WP's.

So what gives.
I've sent an email to the manufacturer of all these kits, Proform asking for clarification.

EDIT: I took SunlightComet's advise and called up Summit. Talked to a guy named Larry. We talked about the Summit rebranding, it was confirmed that it was Proform's electric water pump. And we confirmed that those pumps are not for use with a vortec. It's because the vortec has some sort of bracket or something attached to the OEM pump that these ones don't have. Thus no vortec application for me.

EDIT 2:
My current vortec water pump:

Retorq's electric water pump:

Does anyone see a difference?

Yep, your heater return hose is on the other side from a "traditional" SBC water pump ... not seeing a bracket though. The Vortec engine I got was a short block so I can't say for sure what bracket is different. The other major difference is the roller block, you need "something" to hold the cam in. The factory roller stuff has a retainer plate, lots of aftermarket kits will use a bolt hung from a spot on the water pump ...

It's the external bypass that's different. That's what the extra hose that comes out from the lower intake to the water pump is for. You can "T" into the heater hose or drill the bypass in the block.

I'm on my gauges like a hawk, I know there is a problem before there is a problem. LOL

It's like a new truck. Even when cold it gets up and f*ckin moves. I think that old pump had a bad bearing or something.

I got a Proform with relay kit from Jegs. It comes as a kit. I used their efan harness which is basically the same kit as for the water pump except for the temp sensor.

If your belt driven pump fails what are you gonna do?? The same thing I will do. Park it and get a new one. :D

Not sure of the amps but with just the pump the alternator is fine. With both efans, pump and the heat on full blast it dips down a lil. The voltage meter on my cap says mid 13s.

I should have done pulleys while there. Didn't have the money ... :emotions122:

Sell you mine $70 shipped with belt!

unknown at this time.
To add the idler and tensioner have traded places. As far as brackets the left and right accessory mount brackets are different. completely different casting from the looks of it. Also A/C and alternator swapped places as well.
