I searched the forum but did not find the answer to this. Would someone like to help me by looking up the number of labor hours required to overhaul the engine on a 2008 GMC Yukon XL Denali AWD? This has the 6.2L engine. Thank you for any help.

34.7 hours, which includes: disassemble & clean the engine, ridge ream and hone cylinders, inspect all necessary components, grind valves and tune up.

RR Short Block is 23.2 hrs
RR Long Block is 20.2 hrs
Complete Assembly with transfer of parts 15.2 hrs

depends on alot, you can go by book hours of what a dealer would call for, but if doing it yourself it would probably take longer depending on your familiarity, skill and tools available. where as someone that has done it many times and is extremely familiar would take far less time.

Another owner just replaced the 6.2L on his 08 Esky with a pre loved drop in unit at 195K miles. He's in CA. I can't find the post he did that has the cost. Keep in mind if you've got e85 cheap in your area you can save about $1.8K a year (based on 30K mi driven annually) on fuel is you install the 2009 L9H motor that does not cylinder deactivation.

They're plentiful because GM ran it their trucks from 09-13. They're also known to have gotten rid of the scary piston slap common on the 08/09 L92. His 08 Esky if for sale too. New motor, trans and too much to list as he's an enthusiast.
