This piece rusted off on the passenger side. I’m not sure what it’s called. The driver side cover still seems to be intact. Is it an emergency to replace right away? IMG_2550.jpg

Exhaust manifold Heat shield

I would put it back on but for now make sure any rubber hoses or wires are as far away fron tge exhaust manifold as possible... if you buy a new one get new bolts. You may have a problem getting the old ones out tho. I would tell you to run without it making sure nothing is too close to manifold hoses wires etc but im sure ill get shit for it.

If you can get a few bolts out, get some washers and put it back on with the washers crushing the shield

It's an exhaust manifold cover. It helps keep the heat lower and away from wiring and hoses in the engine bay. If possible try and get it replaced soon so you're cooking things close to the manifold.

Thx for the quick responses. My dilemma now is removing the bolts and hoping they don’t break inside. As oppose to leaving it and zip tie the wires away from it.

Hit those bolts with kroil or pb blaster for a few days before attempting to pull em. And if you have the room try a couple of light taps directly on the bolt heads. It may help loosen them up.

Are these common to rust off? If so, replacing with the same garbage doesn’t seem so sufficient.

To be honest I've never seen one fall off before. Are you missing a splash gaurd on that side of the block?
