I have a 2009 LTZ Tahoe 5.3L 4WD and I think I am going to swap out my engine harness.

Q: Do I have to pull it from an exact year, model and trim match Tahoe? In my experience parts websites are often wrong on compatibility years. If I am to trust gmpartsdirect, only one specific 4WD harness fits 2009 and that's it. I can't use a 2008 or 2010, even though very little changed in these cars from 2007-2014. its' a different part # that is supposedly not compatible. Sounds weird to me bc I doubt they would redesign a harness for 2008, 2009 and then 2010. Seems too costly.

Q: There are two versions of the harness with different part #s, ENGINE WIRING(W/WIRE AT CAVITY and one w/out wire at cavity. Not really sure what it is referring to, or why they are different. Any idea there?

A bunch of 07-09 Tahoe and Yukons have shown up at yards lately and I'm going to go get one before they all get cut up and torn apart.

It’s probably split between 2WD & 4WD. There’s no diesel option. Get one from the highest optioned truck you can. Better to have the harness for the one option you do have and disconnect what you don’t want.

Always wanted that heated window washer feature :D

I would RUN, not walk to get one, the engine & transmission are usually pulled the moment one of these hits a yard and these clowns just chop the harness off
so good luck finding one intact.
They get harvested like illegal chinese body parts around here

Yeah I was kind of wondering about that. To me it would make more sense to make just one type for all trims and then have a splice or additional plug for 4WD only. Perhaps that is what they ended up doing.

Yeah I hear ya. There isn't a pattern with the yard I go to. Sometimes they don't pull the motor and the harness goes untouched for weeks, unless a customer goes in there and hacks at it lazily. Other times they pull the motor and the harness gets thrashed.
