I really miss being in a shop where I had access to the "hot wrench" and a bigger compressor than a 3 gallon tank. Have to be cognizant of the neighbors. With no rust here, the "hot wrench" not being available is really not that big a deal and the small compressor works for cleaning/blowing stuff out. I have the Milwaukee Tool battery stuff and that works fine. There has been a couple times an air chisel vibrator or cutting bit would have been nice but I worked around it.

IMO, the video guy got real lucky with the small amount of rust he encountered.

I have clamps on 3 corners of the engine and no leaks/noises but when the time comes, I will prep for 2-3 weeks in advance with Aero Kroil on all the nuts/bolts.
I watch Eric O all the time, he’s an excellent mechanic, best I have ever seen certainly the best on the internet. As he mentioned at beginning of vid, we made another vid with older GMs and uses different techniques. After watching him for years, IMO, no “luck” there!!

It would have been a better video if he showed dealing with a "broke off flush bolt" extraction.

Plus, you tend to get better techs, that think out of the box, when they deal with rust every day. I got lazy when I moved from KC, Mo. to Eugene, Or.

Yes indeed, as I mentioned, his other video deals with several diff techniques and one is a flush that I think he welded a nit to it. My point is though, if you watch this guy a bit, his videos usually have upwards of 15k plus likes and he makes vids pretty much everyday, you will see it’s not “luck” for him!!

I think most of the guys here watch most of his stuff, they know how good he is and also a hybrid owner with a miss that drove up from NY in hopes he could fix it and it sounds like he basically did a tune up and said good luck. you should probably sell it. something I feel should have been a very easy thing to fix, it wasn't related to the hybrid system at all. Just a standard gmt900 intermittent misfire.

he makes excellent youtube videos thou. but as with all YouTubers. you don't put out bad content and be successful. the algorithm doesn't work like that, and his videos probably make as much or more $ than his shop brings in at this point. that other youtube guy out in CO that's popular. LT something, a guy from here took his yukon xl I believe it was there to his shop with a afm lifter failure. would have made for a good video tear down and doing a delete but he didn't even touch it himself. had one of the other shop guys do the grunt work. sold him on a full $10k engine swap with a jasper reman. truck got damaged twice while at the shop and the engine rod knocked few months later. they covered it under warranty. but you know, stuff happens and it's always good to remember you don't see any of the bad stuff on the channel.
