I went to smog my 97 Yukon SLE and the test came back as fail for these error codes:

P0141 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit
P1870

Im not sure if this is something I can fix myself or not, but Im sure hesitant to spend my hard-earned money at a shop if its just a $100 fix?? :uhoh2:

Any help is appreciated.

Well, the first one is just an O2 sensor problem, it's either the harness of the sensor itself. That's a cheap and easy fix!

The second one is a slipping transmission from what I understand, looks like it's a good deal more complicated.

Here's some troubleshooting tips....

Hm...Thanks for the info! The transmission DOES shift a little hard when its hot. But, would that keep the truck from passing smog?

Also, now the check engine light is off. Would it get by smog now that its off?

If the code is gone, you should pass your emissions fine. I would have it scanned first to make sure there's no codes hiding. Sometimes the light will go off but the codes are still stored, if that's the case, have them deleted.

You should probably by one to keep handy, they're pretty cheap and you'd be surprised how much use you might get out of it

Be sure to drive it 100 or so miles before trying to get your emissions done so it goes through the drive cycle -- it won't pass until it has after you delete a code.
