I fully agree on just buying a muffler and not a catback. My Carven was little more at $90, but the unique sound was worth it to me. Also, I bought a tip, whereas Chris came out victorious by cutting one off a junkyard Dodge Caliber or Pontiac Aztec or something.

Lol
I still have the dual exit G8 tip on it. The tips I recently cut off were from a Saturn Outlook. At least I'm keeping it GM! I wish I had the time to install it.

i also agree with above unless your diehard about keeping you truck forever or dont want to keep pushing the power. if you have thoughts about keeping it forever get a full stainless exhaust so you never have to worry about it again. if your just after a more aggressive sound and maybe a little more punch and thats it go with above and just swap the muffler and get a tune. if you already know your going to catch the **** for more power your going to want to upgrade the exhaust eventually anyway so its an easy place to start.

I'm definitely going to be keeping this truck for quite a few years, and I also am back and forth between FL and NJ so it gets the best of both types of rust! That's one of my primary reasons as well as I don't want my exhaust rusting out from the salt on the roads during the winter, and the sand, humidity, and wetness of FL.

Here's a short video of my 2019 Tahoe Z71 4X4 black out edition with Corsa sport exhaust out the right side exit. So far so good. Yes, It's loud at cold start but it mellows down some but you can still hear it when driving around and also when you floor the gas pedal. I do have the GM performance CAI/cold air intake until Corsa releases they're CAI systems for the Tahoes.

So I've decided to start out slowly and I'm gonna chop off my resonator today. Going to see how it sounds like that and then go for a muffler and then from there see if I really want a full exhaust and spending the money on one.

Will post later today with how it turns out!

Chopped off the resonator, added a 16" straight pipe and tip for about $30 at Autozone. Nice little rumble, and went on the highway for about 20 miles and noticed no drone at all.

Throw in a $50 stainless steel muffler (or $150 if you're a name dropper ) and enjoy. Put the $400+ you saved towards stuff that matters, such as a tune. The surefire choices to give you more sound but not be excessive/obtrusive would be the Magnaflow 12589 or the slightly louder 12259. I have the AP Exhaust clone of the MF 12259 (AP model #XS1259) and couldn't be happier. Best $30 mod (currently $50 on Amazon) ever. They have a MF 12589 clone under model #XS2589, currently $57 on Amazon.
Thanks for that info

What is not a good idea?

There are a lot of threads throughout the site with people deleting the rear resonator on the 15-20 GM SUV’s and experiencing terrible drone.

This thread here with the OP’s experience above is in fact the first and only time I recall anyone stating they had no drone.
