There are a lot of threads throughout the site with people deleting the rear resonator on the 15-20 GM SUV’s and experiencing terrible drone.

This thread here with the OP’s experience above is in fact the first and only time I recall anyone stating they had no drone.

I wonder if AFM and the active exhaust valve are the difference in the K2xx? I could barely tell a difference with mine deleted ('08) and I had to really listen.

I went with a Gibson cat back in 409 stainless in my 04 6.0 Denali XL and it’s pretty nice. Nice burble, great start-up, little louder at cruise, nice volume increase at WFO.
Fitment was tricky, was banging the coil spring at first. Needed some “adjustment”. Nice looking tip.
It’s a good choice for replacing the weird dual inlet muffler that comes stock.

FWIW, I have the Borla system on my 2019 Tahoe 5.3 , I had it installed as an option when I ordered the truck right from GM, I also put in the GM cold air, and I LOVE it !!! It has that real nice rumble when I start her up, smooth and pleasurable at highway speeds, and roars when I stand on it, and gurgles at the stop lights, for me it is perfect, two chrome tailpipe tips that says BORLA, and that is cool too. And it was a piece of cake for them to install....... just my 2c worth..

So as tax return season is coming up I'm starting to look at exhausts, and my are there many options. So one of the requirements is I don't want it too loud. When I get a middle of the night call I'd rather not wake up my entire block with the sound of my exhaust. That's basically the only thing.

In addition, the exhaust will be paired with an AFE Momentum GT intake and then a tune as well.

So based upon that what are everyone's recommendations? Also how is the GM Borla exhaust? Was looking into that since I can get my GM discount on that.

I have the Borla Touring catback on my 2020 Tahoe. Sounds a little loud on a cold startup but quickly quiets down during warming. They really talk to you when you accelerate and quiets down when you level out on your speed. Sitting still at a stop light or in a parking lot it has a mean rumble. I up graded my sound system and didn’t want a exhaust that would overpower the quality of the sound. This exhaust is perfect!!

I had a GM Borla on my last Tahoe and I liked it. It’s pricey, but it’s the only one I know of with the flap to prevent it from sounding like you are being chased by an airboat. On my ‘16 LTZ, I went with a Corsa Sport. If I had a redo- I’d go With GM Borla.

I started with Borla Sport (now for sale), it sounded amazing, but became too much on long drives.
Almost as bas as the constant complaints the wife and kid.

Wound up scaling back to Borla Touring and am much happier.
