I've asked before with no response and keep searching to no end. Can someone explain exhaust drone to me?

At around 1800 RPM in any gear the exhaust harmonics get louder, like in a tin can, and I feel a slight vibration throughout the vehicle. Is that drone or potentially something else going on?

2011 Yukon XL 2500 (6.0L). Factory exhaust. Could something be wrong internal to the exhaust?

A few dealers have looked at it and cannot provide any solution besides that it is in the exhaust. Haven't been to a exhaust shop yet, but that is next.

Exhaust drone is just the exhaust noise inside the vehicle. Most cars you cant hear the exhaust tone inside the car because the muffler is large and full of packing around the corrugated piping inside, and all that noise goes out the tip at the back bumper.

if you get an aftermarket muffler like a flowmaster, or the internals of your stock muffler start to break down you will hear it more inside the vehicle.

I dont think there is anythign mechanically wrong with your truck, just weird harmonics at that particular RPM, perhaps your muffler internals have started to break down a bit with age.

Its normal.

The 6.0 gas is a drone monster..... yes. With stock exhaust.

I personally like the sound and it doesn't bother me.

You should add a J-pipe

Google jpipe drone chart.

I think I'd be more concerned about the vibration throughout the vehicle.
Drone inside a vehicle does not always mean it is an exhaust issue.
Since you have drone as well as some vibration and it is happening at 1800 rpm, I'd look into you transmission/converter.
