So will be adding an exhaust system FINALLY next week. I have read many posts regarding exhausts, but still up in the air on what to do. I know this has been brought up alot, just wanna trully know some REAL deals. True duals, or just Y pipe into single exhaust like stock setup??? What is the performance gains/loss from both setups? Top end? bottom end? mid range? Who has done both setups, or knows best performing and all around good setup for our Hoes??? Think I really wanna do true duals, but kinda like just single exhaust tip!! Alittle help would aid in my decision. I do think I wanna go with Magnaflow exhaust tho from what I have read. Don't want really loud, just great performance to add to my already installed headers.

It's all personal preference. I think every car sounds a lil different esp. since you have headers. Everyone say Magnaflow performs better. YOur talking true duals which would be great then again I have heard if you lose to much back pressure then you lose power. I myself went with 50 series Flowmaster catback because I was afraid it would be to loud. It sounds good when driving but at idle I think it maybe to quiet imo.

I went with a single Flowmaster 40 series catback. You are going to gain some from affing an exhaust, but it wont be a huge number. It all boils down to what you want sound wise. If you like the classic camaro/cutless sound then Flows are for you. I know a lot of guys that use Magnaflow on newer performance cars and they sound really good too. Gibson has a good sound but the system I heard on a lq4 was way loud

Ya, I hear ya about losing some HP with true duals, but then again, most high horsepower Stangs I have known have always used true dual exhausts. So... It might not be that bad. I know everyone will have a certain opinion on this subject. Just hoping for some good info regarding HP, MPG, and overall performance gains with each exhaust system.

A lot of guys go with the single in dual out setup. There is a sight out there that tells you what a good recommendation is as far as pipe size and single/dual versus flywheel hp to give you max performance. I think it's flowmaster's site but I can't remember exactly. I do remember reading that for our stock engines (~295 hp) they recommended single exhaust 2.5" pipe. I went with 3 just to make room for future mods as the 5.3 can make very good power with mods such as cams and headers. Super Chevy bought one out of a junkyard threw some heads, cams, and a tune on it and it dyno'd at 490 at 6800 rpms.

I'd stick OFY, good muffler and leave it at that, IMHO true duals will kill low end in a 6000 lb truck.

I went with the Borla Cat-Back .. definately no complaints on this end .. no drone in cabin on highway, idle is quiet, just the right amount of sound while pulling away.
