For one, hello all. Little about me. I am new to the forum as well as a new Yukon owner. I purchanced a 2011 slt about month ago. And have been working on it to make it "ME" since. There are things I have to do to get my vehicle ready for work. And then there are things for "me".
Few things I have done. First off. Picked it up with 70k miles with a great price. Very clean. Except for the fact previous owner beat the hell out of paint with automatic car washes. So started with 2 layers of 20% colorstable tint all around. With 50% on windshield. New black grill, emblems, led headlights and fogs. LED interior. Drop in KN. And full wet sand and polish with igl kenzo ceramic coating. Ordered wheels yesterday. And painted the tail lights.

But I am looking for exhaust / intake set up. But I can not have it loud. As much as I love all tones. I just can't with my job. I am a private investigator. I sit in neighborhoods all hours of day and night. I have to keep truck running. For ac. Lol. I live in AL. So I was wondering what everyone thought regarding a setup. That will give me a quiet stock idle. But help with fuel economy (excuse for wife) and maybe a little proformance and responsiveness.

My future plans are exhaust, intake, lower rear to level. Small sub set up. iR lights. Led reverse lights. And few other work stuff. Should be completed with list in bout month or two and starting another list. Hahaha

Factory exhaust is a great flowing exhaust. I would get a modular intake tube from airaid and definitely a tune. It will not effect the idle at all and will definitely make it alot more responsive

And don't wast money on a tune. Get a custom tune. Blackbear has a very resonably priced in person or mail order tune.

You could do long tube headers and use the stock cat back. It would help with performance, economy and responsiveness but the stock muffler will still keep it civilized until WOT
As far as intakes go, I would just get an Araid modular intake tube, a drop in k&n or green filter and call it a day. If you really wanted a cai, get one with a box like a volant or slp blackwing that way you are actually sucking in cold air lol

*edit: If you do get long tubes you must get a tune. A custom tune is the only way to go. Black bear is highly recommended, but if you have a local ls tuner that's competent that also works*

Yeah still not as quiet as stock at idle. Sitting in a subdivision at night with truck running is the issue. I'm guessing I will have to put exhaust on hold. I will be ordering intake either tonight or this weekend. See what happens there I guess.

howdy

your Yuk is already going to stand out, in a nice way ;)
but i get trying to be quiet while opening it up.

i might suggest corsa or a weld-in magnaflow

leave stock manifolds & cats....this will help tame it.

Back when I was a grease monkey, I met a customer that had a strange modified ice chest, deep cycle battery and tubing set up in his back seat. It turns out he was a PI and had made a simple air conditioner that ran off of dry ice he picked up from a packing/shipping company.

Yeah those hints are possible. But not as effective. And just more stuff to prep when leaving house to run to work. And sometimes we don't have time to prep. It's just grab and go. And that's mainly because I work on the domestic side and can't schedule out when people cheat. I like an open area in back to relax and set tripods up with curtains. And two laptops for viewing screens. And use the flip down for security of truck. Watching for anyone walking up on me. Second battery with isolator is a must. As charging cans powering camera computers gps units coffee maker. And some music.

Ah. Well, going back to a quiet free-flow muffler, a buddy of mine with a 400+ HP LS-swapped 4WD Sonoma used 2 Magnaflow mufflers (I don't know what model #) to have unrestricted flow but you couldn't tell his truck was idling unless you stood by the exhaust outlet. I don't know if the stock muffler is even all that restrictive, but it can be quieter and, obviously, with no impediment to flow.

AirAid tube with factory box/filter sucks just as cold or colder than Volant and other aftermarket CAIs. It has also shown to produce more HP than other CAIs.

Black Bear will be doing further intake testing over the next couple weeks on a 2016 Yukon Denali.
