need some input and advice to start addressing the much needed fuel system upgrades...

so i am looking to get new injectors and a fuel pump (if necessary since mine my oe still has not burned out)

When i did my build i knew injectors would be needed but with my light/break-in feeler tune i was 75% duty cycle. Earlier this summer i finally got a BB Tune in person by Justin and he also confirmed i needed to do something about the injectors to get the full potential out of the set up. Once he was done tweaking we were at i think 95% duty cycle(maybe 99%,i 4get) either way i am maxed out on fuel delivery and maybe supply.

options so far:
47# part# M-9593-G302 (ford injectors???)
46# part# 30462-8 (FAST)\
44# part# 32D-00-0044-8 (deatsch werks)
30# part# DFP-FJ10494 (stock delphi chevy 8.1L injectors)

of course the re-tune, then i need to figure out what fuel pump to use!

b4 i contact BB i thought i would get some input since i am undecided:emotions133:

any advice/opinions/experience would be greatly appreciated!
thanks every1

The Delphi 8.1L are large enough for your needs, and there is plenty of data on them to make them plug and play for your application.

Why are you running a 102 fast with a 80mm TB? Choked off much? Yup. Atleast get a 90, better yet a eBay 100.
That cam, heads, intake with a 2500 verter?
What's comp ratio? Did you go up any with Pistons? Since you didn't cut the heads of you didn't, you actually dropped compression with that combo.
Are you building for a turbo?

You have a 2-6k cam with a 3-7500k heads and intake combo along with a 2500 verter.

Mis matched system to say the least bud.
You would be better off with a nnbs intake port matched to a ported oem TB with your combo. It would make waaayyy more power below 4k and be very close above.

Toss that 2500 verter for a tight 3k or 3200. With the right verter so will still be able to tow np, if needed.

Give yea props for the effort and high quality parts, but the combo is way off.

i was hoping u would chime in !! yeh i will probably do the 8.1L since you will be doing the tuning! Justin had mentioned that he already has the specs for them to add them to my tune file. it seems that would be easiest route.

now as far as fuel pump goes do u think i need to plan for that?

Another injector option are the ones from a 5.3 Flex Fuel motor. I understand that they are 33 lb/hr. You should be able to find them for a reasonable price.

The 6.0 injectors are 25 lb/hr, which is the same as non-flex fuel 4.8 & 5.3 motors.

My engine swapper re-used the whole intake assembly from the 5.3 Flex when he installed my 6.0 **. Black Bear took that into account when doing my tune.

i apologize if i came off wrong. and gave the impression that i know exactly what i am doing.
i will give alil intro of my self to the community since i dont think have really ever formally done that and am now seeking the help of the vets here!
i was looking for this kind of feed back! good stuff here!

i am fairly new to the aftermarket for what these motors can actually do with the right parts. i seem to be learning as i try on my own cuz no1 i know is doing them yet!? they havent been bitten by the LSitch! they are still stuck in the 350sbc ways. i have been reading the LS books to further my knowledge and my understanding of these motors. but most are for swapping and not really vehicle specific( wish i had a book for gm fullsizes) there is alot to learn about these big beasts!

my set up was purely a- "lets see what all this free stuff can do!"
the build combo and my LS curiosity/addiction started with ....

after automotive school i worked at a few shops-back in '05 &being the young 18yr old gear head trying learn how to make em so i could break em! i worked under all the old school guys that didnt care about anything other than making a paycheck. they taught me how to diagnose/fix/repair and everything else needed to succeed in the business.in 07 i got the opportunity to fill in for the service writer. after that i became manager/mechanic/safety&emissions inspector!

i started working on faster and cooler cars but nothing really built, it was all rich people bought cars. lambos, ferrari, bugatti, what would be expected in that zip code the shop was in. it was fun and all but i could never afford to play in that scene. the vettes and mustangs that we did have were like procharged, custom bolt on's with lambo doors and rich wheels. whatever auction my customers bought their cars from, didnt tell them why the awesome car was being sold in the 1st place. but the rich people dont care as long as it looks good i guess they buy it and figure a motor is cheap!

that worked out great for me!!! over time i ended up with the top end for an LS motor!

late '07 still young and dumb(i feel i still am!lol) kid coming in '08 and the wifey wouldnt let me get 06 z06(always loved that car and it was kind of my intro to the LS world), she wouldnt let me get anything LS worthy. the best i could get her approval on that wasnt a honda, toyota, lexus, benz, bmw (+all other out of budget cars!) the gmt800's she said fine! so i found my '03denali and said...

so lets see what would happen to throw what i got together on the denali!?? so one by one i started adding the parts starting with the simple blot on's and then 80k miles happened and it came time for transmission. at that point i had the heads still sitting on my tool box and decided to pull the motor n put the heads on to finish the parts pile!

once the heads were off and the trans out i knew a factory rebuild with vette servo and shift kit wouldnt last long with the way i planned to push this motor. so i called preformabuilt and told them the motor specs and they recommended what i got so thats how i ended up with the 2500 stall.

b4 the block went to the machine shop i ended up buying some pistons since so far i havent paid for much. Being dumb and getting pistons delivered to the shop on a friday! Well my wonderful(not anymore) friend thought he would help me out and assembly the bottom end over the weekend!!! Monday i came in to find the not so bare short block ready to go to the machine shop and my boy saying "isnt that beautiful!!!??" omg nothing mic'd out and the free handed sloppy hone job, wtf! he put it together like it was just some nuts and bolts.

i put it together anyways since like one year had passed since the trans went and only had 1st n R ! i couldnt wait to drive my truck ! WELL after many many hard runs i was actually amazed with the set up!(machinist said they always feel strong b4 they blow up lol). i fried a few pistons(i tuned with a diablo predator:chair:)+lost compression in 6 cyl(good stuff when you find piston rings in the cats!)

i moved states, switched careers(no more garage)pulled the motor outside :( and sent it out for the over bore. the machinist i found had an H2 and was building an 427 stroked LQ4. i had him do the long block assembly for me which turned out to be a great deal. come to find out this was his 1st LS build and he was asking me for advice and we ended up trying to figure everything out as went! he went the hptune and i went efilive, and back and forth etc. , jus having a good time learning!

i joined the forums to seek out the guys/girls that have been here and done that to help school me and pass the knowledge/experience down

during the build i always thought about doing an fi set up cuz every1 around me had boosted lil euro cars and i would be like "man if only they knew about the potential i had in the denali)lol

wow this is alot of typing...im done making excuses for my bad build lol.
the help/guidance is always greatly appreciated and absorbed

Its all part of it.

i always felt the bottom end suffered but blamed it on being a big heavy truck and not the tc or mis match set up... but wow even with the lack of fuel it has a top end that loves to pull deep into the deadly mph range. the truck is great for hwy pulls! but thats all lol

so it sounds like its safe to say that i am not spreading the power out evenly through the board?and could gain in more than a few area's?
