i cranked my torsion keys in almost all the way, had it aligned and it drives fine. i got about 2inches out of the front. now i just have to drop the rear 4inches and im set.

i have not noticed a difference in the ride. mine is a 02 tahoe that is 2whd. i have the tow package on it so the rear sits really high.

i say do it and see how you like it. takes two minutes to drop it and take it for a test drive. you can always put it back up.

I did 3" DJM coils in the back of a Tahoe and decranked the keys in the front enough for it to sit level. The truck aligned fine, and rides great. If you loosen the keys you are taking tension off, if you tighten the keys you are tightening and adding tension.

so in order to lower it you must tighten or loosen the bolt?... Im used to a Z71 when you tighten it raises it

So if you tighten it and it raises the truck. Loosening it would lower the truck.....

I dropped the stock keys down. It leveled the truck off with the 3 inch rear drop spring. The truck is on 24s, but rides better lowered in my opinion.

What's involved in dropping the stock keys down? What tools do you need? I'll assume jack and stands at a minimum... What's the step by step on it? I'll also assume you needed shock relocators for the 3 inch drop springs?

Can you get a bigger drop with GM2500 series keys out front? I keep hearing the ride will suffer, the ride will suffer. Why would it suffer? If you compress the springs, you'll get a slightly harsher ride but better performance, right, flatter cornering, better handling etc...? How bad can it be with the GM2500 keys? Do you get a jolt? I used to drive a 95 Imp lowered a few inches on progressive drop Eibach's and it was way stiffer, but hey, you could drift corners flat as a pancake.

I'd appreciate your input, would like to do a 2/3. Anything any lower might look silly with stock Z71 wheels IMO. I might go to a Phase 2 in a couple of years with a 3/5 and 22's. That BBear Tune sounds great as well. I don't haul anything, so I'm sure I'd see a huge perf. increase.

i loosened my stock keys down enough to get 1 1/2" lower and the ride is almost the same. i little looser as you do take tension off the bars but not enough to warrant extreme damage. i did it almost 9 years ago and drive it daily, now the back i went with djm springs but i wish i had gone with different ones.. the rear rides horrible. i just added helper air springs but it seems to have raised the back about an inch.

i went ahead and ordered the ART rear bags and will be putting them asap. i will probably order some keys for now till i can save up enough for the front ART kit. i mainly did it because i tow a trailer and use the sub for my detailing business daily.

all you need is to raise your truck up and get a 17mm(if i recall correctly) turn the bolt to loosen it. i only went about 8 turns total. dont forget you are working with tension so its not like you have to back the bolt out 2" just do it a little at a time. test drive it after every time you loosen them a few turns to settle the suspension and park in the same place to keep consistent readings. and get it aligned after you are happy with the height

Thanks a bunch, that's some great imput.

I'll figure that I'll want a 3-4 inch drop, so will select something other than DJM rear drop package.

You mentioned you were going to get different key's, what specific model keys? Will these keys drop you further than the stockers? I know that some kits come with front keys. Do these lowering keys drop you further than stock ?
