as for the cam.. im still planning and thinking about the options
what do u think of comp 212-218?

as for the intake.. do u think 102 throttle is too much? should i go with smaller one?
i just dont like the idea of changing stock MAF
i read stories where aftermarket MAFs caused problems

my goal here is to build a fast street daily driver.. i go off-roading occasionally

thank you again

I say, go with a cam, TC and gears- return the intake, just asking for trouble with it.

If you want to put a power plant on there, go f/i.

i agree with the statment above, and best part, if you can return the intake, that alone should pay for the 3 things mentioned here

the 212-218 low lift is a proven winner for tow and 4x4 app's
You toss in some comp or crane 1.8 rockers and you will see a VERY NICE performance upgrade.

top 3 street DD converters, in no particular order.

Circle D, their 285mm, 2800 or the 3000-3200k for 385$ is VERY hard to beat.
FTI converters
Yank 2800, 3000

you want to get into real high end look into neil chance converters.

his springs will work with it but they are also on the verge of not being able to control the valves..

Pac is the go to springs atm, stay away from comp 918's WAY to many ppl have had springs break to even consider them.

Bud cam selection is like a muffler, its personal preference and based on what converter you choose.

With the Circle D 285 2800 its a perfect match, you could get alil more topend power by going to the 212-218 highlift or go with the 218-220 for more power everywhere, but sacraficeing a tiny bit of lowend..

by lowend I mean below 2300ish rpm.. BUT the convertor will make up for it, by allowing you to get into the power of the cam faster..

I advise, calling one of the above mentioned shops and talking to them in length.
Tellem what you want to do, what you expect and what price range you have to work with. Tellem your a noob (no insult intended) and you need advise on the complete build.

These are gearheads, bud, they LOVE to talk cars.. so be ready to take notes and listen, listen and listen more.
your going to learn alot in a very short time.
Take the opp to read over at LS1 truck and performancetrucks. they get this exact question " i need more" 20 times a day...

As noted above your best bet is just to give Comp a call. Tell them what you are looking for and they will walk you through everything. Since you were already looking at over $1500 with the stuff you were talking about before you should be able to get a pretty sick cam and valvetrain setup with a TC for well below that number.
