If that resistor was replaced with a Dorman product, I would be worried about that part, even if it is not the problem. If you tear it down, see if you can get a part number on it to compare. Depending on where you are at, I just changed my control head on my 05 Z71. The fan speed rocker was all rubbed out and did not look good to my OCD self. It works flawlessly but I wanted a more pristine look. You can get those control heads on ebay, where I got mine.

Thank you for the suggestion! I see the resistor in this tahoe is new as it is definitely aftermarket. Must've been previous owners first thought as well. My voltmeter found that the ground for the resistor itself is receiving about a volt. From what I read somewhere on this forum it points back to the atc as the issue. I'll do a little more research before I pull the trigger, that was just a quick diagnosis in my driveway after I got home from my trip

Thank you for the link! I will confirm where the resistor came from when I'm off Wednesday before I purchase a new Controller.

I noticed that their was no accessories belt on the tahoe and slapped one on there only to find out the belt tensioner is locked up. So that was a near miss when the belt greeted me out the hood lol. Picked up a replacement tensioner this evening which I'll take care of Wednesday as well.

So I saw the one for $30 and figured it was probably that price for a reason. So went with the "mid" grade

If is the accessories belt then you would have not had power steering or alternator and water pump was not turning?

Have I been calling it the wrong thing my entire life? Probably lol. I always called it drive belt and accessories belt(for the non essential stuff) I realize now that that's incorrect haha. Thank you for the clarification and all the links. You guys are awesome!
