I'd say a high milage filter with 6 quarts of any high milage 5 w 30 oil. I usually use pennzoil. Oil brands are like trucks, everyone seems to have one they prefer over the other, but they are all pretty much the same in the end. Some guys will say only use synthetic, but If it hasn't had synthetic it's whole life I've read that switching with that many miles can cause problems. Plus the only real benefit of synthetic is longer times between changes. There are plenty of guys with 200 k plus that have never run synthetic.

Boyntonx2 is pretty much right. Everybody has an opinion on filters and oil and very few are actually wrong. While I do not doubt that there are folks with 200k on their engines with dino oil, I very much doubt that they use 10k change intervals with that oil and am also willing to bet that most of those miles are highway.

I will recommend that you do not follow the ~10k change interval the the DIC shows. A 5k interval seems to be a better fit and IIRC is the recommendation for severe duty (i.e. stop and go traffic, dusty areas, repeated short trips, etc). There are some very small oil passages used for the DMD or AFM on your engine and while some synthetic oils can be costly, you can buy a lot of oil for the cost of a replacement engine. The Mobil 1 synth that you chose has become my preference for newer non diesel engines.

I typically run AC Delco filters because they are relatively inexpensive and available at the local wally worlds.

WIX or Napa Gold filters only (they are made by WIX)

I forgot the part number, but there is a larger (longer) filter that I use instead of stock short size. I think it's for the big diesel 3500 motor. Adds more capacity and more filter is better in my opinion

Oil, as long as it's clean and changed regularly. I've run regular and synthetic in various cars

Take a look at some of the websites about filters, bob the oil guy is a good one. You'll never look at a fram filter the same

WIX oil filter 51522 is the longer filter for the LS engine. I get them on Amazon for 65.47 shipped for a case of 12.
I use Mobil 1 Extended Mileage (full synthetic) changed at 5-6K mile intervals.

Yep - part number for Napa Gold (It's a WIX filter with a NAPA logo) is FIL 1522 or 1522 where WIX is 51522. Not sure why these are not stock on our trucks, that is the stock size for the 2000-2002 Chevy, GMC, and Hummer 4.8 and 6.0, but it fits ours just fine
