The Esky caps have been top coated and cleared.
Going to have to wet sand and polish out for the high gloss finish. They look good in the photo, but not good enough.
When I pulled the roof rack off I noticed a few chips I had not seen before. Small paint chips and tiny bubbles in the the lower part of one of the roof fins all in a row.
So I did a small tape job and sanded it back, then hit it with the Duplicolor touch up brush to see what it looked like.
It could pass as no one will ever see it, but the paint pen is a bit darker than the current roof paint.
I may sand it back down and give it a quick prime, paint and clear coat once I can see it in the daylight. Just to make it better as this was just an ok fix. That way I can get to detailing the roof and put the Esky rack back on.
I dropped my spare tire today as it is the OEM 16”. I went through this a while ago whether to keep it or take it off. So it’s off for now. I lubed the hoist and lock mechanism and raised the cable back up.
I cleaned up the red Spohn adjustable panhard bar and Belltech shocks.
Overall it doesn’t look too bad under there. It is not as smooth and nice as the Suburban, but not too bad for 12 years old and living near the ocean. Thankfully is it is not completely covered in hard core rust.
With the tire off, I may do a bit of clean up and get some black paint under there just so it looks better. And I need to grease the suspension zerk fittings as well.
