My rig is a 98 2door 4wd with 240K miles. Here's what I recently changed.

Ball joints - upper and lower, both sides
Inner and outer tie rods - both sides
Center Link - just cause everything else was being changed
Pitman Arm
Idler Arm
Idler Arm bracket

I bought all Moog parts from Rock Auto. I forget exactly but all that will run you 350 to 450 in parts. Rock Auto and Amazon have great prices on quality parts.

I looked up all that plus my catalytic converter and shocks on rock auto. That IS a shopping list for sure...

Are there any other preferred brands besides MOOG? Is ACDelco = GM? Can I mix and match brands? Are there fit up issues? Also noticed there was no option for lower control arm. They had upper 4WD (even some with ball joints already done) but no lower, whats with that?

I just got my factory service manuals in the mail.

Here's what I've got:

That's an impressive shopping list and you won't have anything to worry about front end when you're done.

Since you are taking it all the way, don't forget new sway bar bushings and end links...just a thought.

Energy Suspension poly sway bar bushing/end link set is like $35.00 IIRC, give or take a few
depending on where you get it.

Good luck with your project.

I will have to do all this soon. within the next year maybe. You can watch the front end of the truck shake side to side while still going in a straight line. My steering has a lot of play and all the steering components are loose and worn out.

First you do not need to rent a lift to do all the work, save the money and spend it else where.

You can rent a BJ press kit and axel socket kit from your local parts store like Advance Auto. Advance also sells universal poly stabilizer links, grab those dirt cheap and you can install them with out even jacking up the truck.

For help check YouTube.com. I have not looked but guarantee there are some videos to do so. Do you have any tools?

If your stock ball joints have never been replaced the uppers may be riveted in. If so I would definitely suggest buying the whole upper a arm with new bushings and all from rock auto. The new bushings will help the ride and the a arm comes with a bolted on ballpoint I believe. It's a straight ***** to get the rivets out. I wish I would've just got the whole a arm
