Front struts very stiff

I have a 2009 Tahoe LTZ with z55. I have no service suspension light but front seems very stiff. I feel every bump in the road in the front but the rear is very smooth. I also get a light rattle in the driver front when I go over speed bumps. Does this mean the front struts are bad? Also If I replace them I can just put any regular strut and install the resistors to fool the system right? The mount isn't specific to the electronic struts? I hope not as I have been pricing the monroe quick struts or the quick struts on ebay. I would like to keep the air leveling in the rear as it seems to be working fine at this point. Also has anybody used the struts off of ebay? Any quality concerns?

I believe disconnecting the battery resets things....

Do that and see if it get softer.
