I was under the impression that my 1998 GMC Yukon 4dr was supposed to have a 30 gallon fuel tank, but after running it to almost empty and filling it back up it only took 19 gallons. So what gives? Is there a trick to it or do I have a different option?

It's a 98 and you're just noticing now? Lol. My 99 is 30gallons or 120 liters. Sounds like your sending unit is on the way out. Not uncommon. Is your gas gauge shaking?

My sending unit has never been accurate. When filling on "empty" I know $40 is sitting somewhere. And just in the past week my gas gauge has gotten more shaky/sporadic

It's one of those things that you just live with or go ahead and replace the fuel pump/sending unit/ tank all at the same time if they've never been changed. Apparently the tanks are hard to come buy new, as someone brought up this week.

No it has nothing to do with the sending unit, or the gauge. When I filled up at the gas station it only took 19 gallons

So is this a new problem or no? The sending unit tells your gas gauge where to read....

Ok maybe you're not understanding me, I filled my truck up after almost running it empty and it only took 19 gallons. I'm not going by the gas gauge at all
