I just bought a '13 Avalanche LTZ, and my mileage, seems to be a lot lower than what the sticker says. The truck is stock (except for tints and black bowties), I keep it empty, and while I'm not the softest driver on the streets, I'm not racing off every stoplight, either. Right now, I'm averaging about 13 mpg city, and around 17 highway (vs. 15 and 21 sticker). Is this what I should be expecting, or is something wrong?

Driving normally, I average about 14.5-15 city in my Tahoe - and that's up in the Denver metro area where I have less oxygen due to altitude, hilly terrain and heavily ethanol-laced fuel to contend with. I'd say 13mpg city is awfully low for a stock truck without a loaded bed.

No CEL right? It's a 13 so I can't imagine you needing 02 sensors or anything. Weird. I'd say just granny the thing for an entire tank and see if your results improve. All else being equal, the biggest factor on mpg is the driver.

13 is what I average.
But mine is an 07 with 93K miles.
22 in wheels and a leveling kit up front.
Seems low IMO. But don't trust the DIC it just never seems to work right.

How fast are you driving on the highway? The mileage difference between 60-65 and 70-75 is generally pretty big... like 3-4mpg sometimes.

Some motors just fit together tighter than others. give it a few thousand miles to wear into itself andloosen up a bit. I had an 06 ranger off the showroom floor and after 8000 miles, it started getting better and better milage. maybe thats all it needs?

I have a 2013 Tahoe and when I first got it mileage was low. Now with 5600 on the clock the mpg is steadily increasing. I'd give it until its first oil change before really worrying about gas mileage being off.

I'm getting 12 & 17 w/BB & premium, not so good. K&N or similar should help ya Taz plus break-in. And yes, +65 mph mpg decreases.

Also bigger tire size screws up the DIC - gotta calibrate speedo!

Wow. I drive rather conservatively and I am getting about 10.9 in the city. All I have is the Airaid MIT with the filter. I only have about 66k miles. Hopefully BB tune will help that. I have been using 93 octane since I got it in Jan. Hopefully when yours breaks in its better, but your much better than me.
