Future 2020/21 Tahoe/Yukon/Suburban

Cargo in both sizes is pathetic for their exterior dimensions. Minivans have more room.

Well, my Yukon XL didn't seem much bigger on the inside compared to my three Pontiac Montanas save for width but this post got me thinking. So I pulled out my old brochures...

Cargo Capacity with all seats up = 26.9 cubic feet for the 2006 SV6 Montana and 45.8 for the XL. With the 3rd row down in both we get 74 verus 90 and with both rows folded down we get 136.5 versus 137.4. I've put 4x8 sheets of plywood in the Montanas over the years and closed the rear door. And really that's kind of the benchmark for hauling stuff around anyway for passenger vehicles so they are all sized to that more or less.

But don't forget that these also serve other purposes for which they give up interior volume to accomplish. Towing and have an AWD or 4x4 capability explain that, right?

Dunno about vehicles that are well over a decade old.

But a 2018 caravan has 143sqft of cargo while a suburban has 121sqft

And the suburban is 2+ ft longer.

Go figure.

If you need to tow a boat or drive over a mountain then obviously the minivan isn’t a good fit.

It's easy to figure why the Suburban is 2 feet longer, it does not have a transverse mounted V6 and is not front wheel drive!

The Suburban is a great design that has served this nation well in its basic dimensions since 1973. In a way the Grand Caravan has too though it has less in common with its 1980s ancestor.

Ok, but so what? Then folks would whine and cry over it being even longer and for what purpose? If one needs that much room, rent a u-haul! LOL Sprinter and Nissan have even bigger offerings too.

Everytime I seen those newer Tahoe headlights this is what I think of ^

Jeez, I can barely tell the difference between the two honestly...outside of the front fascias of course

Oh boy. Did GM start measuring interior volume differently? How is my old '09 more voluminous inside than a K2? If anything the K2 should be even bigger inside through advances in materials and computer design.

Or maybe Chrysler/Fiat is playing with numbers like the **** do with tow ratings?

Mine don't fold flat either. Neither did any of my Pontiacs until they raised the rear floor with a storage compartment, the '06 I used in the comparison.

Anyhow, those fold flat seats are nowhere near as comfortable, they can keep them.
