I got a new Garmin GPS for the hoe for my birthday. I was wondering if there is anyone who has one and how you have it mounted. I do not like the window mounting set up that it comes with and the wire is exposed. I would like to have that disapear.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I didnt have the Onstar, so I just mounted mine in the cubby hole. Great if you dont need to take it out. And it cleans it up a lot.

The wire just runs through the back and then I put the wire in the dash, and comes out to plug into the cig lighter. But I just saw they have a hardwire kit on Ebay for $25, so I would suggest that for a really clean look.

Anthony....

Id put it on top of the dash, right next to the A-pillar if you can find a flush mount that makes it appear built in..and run the hard wire through the dash. Or even better....if you could find an A-pillar mount, like some programmers.

Similar to....

I would go with that option, for $45 bucks I wouldn't be scared to mess it up by modding it to fit the garmin. I'm sure it's possible to get it to fit and look good.

For you guys that have done this where the onstar lived ... how are you securing the GPS unit into that spot. Forgive my ignorance, however I've never attempted anything like this and figured this would be an easy first project to get started with. Thanks ...

Go to radio shack and buy a female cig adapter with red and black jumper cables on the other end of the chord. It costs.. like $9.. cut off the jumper cables and wire the positive end into a fuse that is used when the ignition is turned over and then ground the negative end to a bolt close to the fuse box. Exactly what I did... takes up none of your cig lighters and is completely hidden. check it out
