Maybe they‘ll just rebrand them as “hd vehicles”...something like the Sierra 2500/3500 doesn’t have to have EPA estimated mileage on the stickers. My 2004 Yukon XL 2500 was the same, estimated mileage wasn’t listed and was considered a heavy duty truck.

I’m at 2700 miles now, trip 2 I reset at 500 and haven’t reset again, I’m about 66% highway and 33% city. Average on Trip 2 shows 16.8 right now. 250 mile trip recently w/ cruise at 76MPH netted 16.8. 400 Mike trip on lower speed roads (65 MPH) yielded 18.9. City seems to be about 15. All this in an XL Denali 6.2, mostly running Octane from Costco, a couple tanks of 93 from BP.
Appreciate the sharing. What's your MPG on highway?

you all know that the current average is in the upper 30s right? Nothing will happen to these vehicles.

Yes, plus they said 40 mpg not 49…..
“They” must be walking this back already because in the video of the announcement yesterday, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg very clearly states “with the standards we’re announcing today by 2026 the average vehicle will get 49 miles per gallon.”

That‘s just ideological BS IMHO, sorry! Not even in Europe they have such ridiculous „standards“. What standard is it? A standard to go back to a horse buggy? And what will happen with those who just bought new cars which aren’t meeting these ridiculous standards? Are they supposed to buy a new horse? C‘mon man!

I can‘t believe that this is gonna happen anyways. Time to buy another V8 as long as it’s possible!
