I have definitely considered going a different route, thats why I ordered a Rivian. 11 bucks to fill from my house, for 300ish miles, or 80 bucks to fill my Envoy, for 350ish miles.

22.8 cents per mile to run gasoline
or
3.6 cents per mile to run electric

Thats roughly a 63% savings to run electric

Easy math for me right now.
Now.. When am I going to get the truck I ordered... 2023? 2024? who knows?!

US family savings rate has fallen. Also, US GDP declined by 1.4% while the market was expecting it to increase by 1.0%. Seems like inflation is eating up a bit of disposable income.

Nope. Those calculations are 100 times too low. Gas would be .228 $, not cents. So 22.8 cents. Electric: $0.036 (3.6 cents). Decimal places matter. ;)

Even if I would save $100 per fill up I would not consider an EV. I just HATE them. It's not what I call a car, sorry. On top of that it's super bad for the environment, no matter what narrative the media and politicians want us to believe. Educate yourself on the pollution caused by EV and you think twice about buying another one.

No argument there at all. I know they are as bad, and potentially worse, if not actually worse, for the environment.

For example, it takes 7 years for a Smug, I mean Toyota Prius to become as carbon neutral, including production, transportation and use, as a Land Rover Discovery Sport V8 to just to be produced!

And its not a car, its a pickup truck :)

Thats actually why I picked the Rivian vs the others on the market, price point, and pound for pound. I get the performance I want, the second best warranty in the market, and 835hp/914tq. I am not buying it to be "green". I am buying it because when I compare the other alternatives, Silverado, tahoe, F150, Wagoneer, etc... I get more HP (and for me thats the biggest thing), followed by me not having to wrench on this vehicle. I will still own a ICE (internal combustion engine) as a EV doesnt do road trips really well.

The one I have speced out is a fully loaded model, at $72,100. Which is cheaper than a Sierra/Yukon Denali loaded similar by about 20-30k

I am in it for the Smiles per mile... The fuel savings is just a bonus... Not to mention no oil changes, no tune ups, and a few other things.

I'd drive the wheels off a Rivian. I was watching some videos of them the other night and they are FAST!! Like really really fast. I'd rather have a lightning though cause they look a lot better IMO. Not a fan of EV's to be green I like them because they have some ridiculous performance that blows ICE vehicles out of the water. I'm not talking about range or towing, I'm talking about hauling ass. I nerded out on some tesla plaid videos a while back, those things are insane!

Yep.. if speced a way I didn't, it's a 0-60 in 3 seconds! The way I have speced it's a 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. It's just so slow, I don't know what I'm going to do lol!

The only thing I have not decided is to stick with the truck at $72100, or go for the SUV @ $75600.
