If you’re cheap, then you can pull the canister and flush it out. A lot of black nastiness will come out. There is a YouTube video of a guy doing this. He flushes it quite well and then uses pressurized air to dry it.

Your check engine light is not on? Mine threw the p0449 code. I replaced the Purge valve and solenoid on mine and bought a new vapor canister that I will replace when I get my Tahoe back from my son who borrowed it. These are easy replacements that you can do yourself if you need them. The only trick is disconnecting the hose connectors.

I'm cheap and planned on doing something like this if I didn't find anything obvious with the vent hose(s). I'll search YouTube for ideas.

Thanks for the input!

You may be surprised at how much dirt you find in the canister vent valve solenoid when you clean it. The top comes off easily to access the filter once you have the valve off the vehicle.

My 2009 had this issue. Replacing the vent valve (vents fumes through the charcoal cansister) fixed the issue. The part was less than $50 and took me less than an hour to install on a Yukon XL.

You have a part number?

make sure you put the pen in the hoe correctly more then likely it's not seating correctly... clean the lip of the filler neck

I had that happen before on my first car

or wait for the summer to evaporate the fuel from the canister
