Lower gear = more low end torque less top end and fuel mileage
higher gear = less torque lower cruising rpm

Gear sets can be offset by a taller tire changing the final drive ratio

Did you add larger wheels and tires?

The higher the number like 4.30 or 4.56 means it will accelerate alot faster it won't lug for say off the line as much as your stock 3.42 or 3.73

And gear sets run for about 200$ each

Lower gears are numerically higher..... 4.10s. Etc

Higher gears are opposite like 3.08

Driven over drive.

Ring gear is driven....count the teeth.

Pinion gear drives.... count the teeth.

Divide.

Gear ratio

Doing gears doesn't actually make more torque... It just moves the torque curve earlier in the rpm range. Only way to make more torque is to do engine mods.

Doing a set of 4.10s will put a smile on your face.

If you aren't mechanic savay then you should have a trusted transmission shop install them. When you buy the gear set get a set up kit and it will have everything you need.

Another thing to look into is a tru trac while your in there.

I`ve always explained gears to people by comparing them to a 10 speed bicycle.

When you`re in first gear, The largest sprocket. It`s very easy to get going but you can only go so fast because you`re pedaling like crazy. Similar to lower gears like a 4:56. Just not as drastic like first gear on a bike.

If you try to start off in 10th gear, the smallest sprocket, it`s more difficult to get moving similar to higher gears like a 2:73, 3:08 etc.

Can't point you to a CAI, but as far as gears the $200 is only going to cover the gears. You're going to need a rebuild kit for the rear with new bearnings. I've replaced a rear end before and it's another $200-$300 in labor to replace and set up the rear correctly. I doubt a shop is going to pull the rear without replacing the bearings.

You're going to lose a noticeable amount of fuel economy as well with a numerically higher gear. For example, running at 70mph on 3.23s at 2000RPM versus 3000RPM with the new gears. It may get annoying as well to hear the engine running at that speed on the freeway.
