Have the bypass (XK01) and all modules (window and audio sensor) I'm going to install.

Post any helpful tips or advice here.

And wish me luck. :D

Is this your first alarm install ever? If so, god help you.

haha, yes it is. :D i've done amps, radios, that sort of stuff. :) But I will agree that it seems to be a daunting task.

and i've gotten a ton of help thru *** from a few members on here. So I pretty much know how it has to go. I'm going to rely on the bypass module, which will help alleviate a lot of the problems with hooking up a RS.

Got everything ripped out to hide the brain and components. Probably went overboard, but that's normally how it ends up for me. I definitely could have just stuffed the brain right behind the dash, but I wanted to make it a littler harder to find. Which unfortunately means a little harder to install as well.

Now just have to run all the wires up to the right locations.

I do have a question about the window module though. It appears that I have to run those wires to each window motor? Is that the case, or can the BCM control that function as well.

does anyone have access to a bitwritter for these alarms? For the life of me, I can't get it out of manual mode into automatic mode. A bitwritter would make it easier to navigate all the menus.

Dude ur a brave soul. I have had my 5701 for over a year now sitting on a shelf. Finally went last week to get some quotes and they are all over the place from 350 to 600 to install. I cant see paying that much, but there is no way I would attempt that on my own! More power to u!

haha, it's definitely a whole other level compared to installing a radio or an amp.

i've spent countless hours doing research and bugging people:) all over the internet to get it installed and hooked up.

I have everything in now, but i've run into two issues. one is with the remote start function. it starts up, but dies right away. i think it has to do with the bypass module not being programmed. although i could have sworn i programmed it.

the other is with my rear door triggers. i think i need to go back over them.

my recommendation would be to do a ton of research, get familiar with all the harnesses and what they are supposed to be connected to. Also get familiar with where all the wires are in your truck that you'll need to tap into.

Once you think you're ready to start, wait another week and read over everything again. Then give it a go. And when something goes wrong, come on here and ask for help. :Handshake:
