I picked up some stock 17" black steelies/Police Tahoe wheels with TPMS sensors and chrome center caps for diiiiiiiiirttttt cheap over the weekend... I'm going to get some 285/70R17 all terrains to mount on them and then throw them on the Tahoe... I need to clean them up and repaint them, and I'll use the stick on weights on the inside of the wheel instead of the weights on the outer lip, too.

I know they're not for everyone but I've been going for the ultimate plain, clean, sleek, utilitarian look for my Tahoe and I think these are going to finish it off nicely. Once I get them mounted up I'll run them for a couple weeks and make sure I like them...then I'll probably sell my OEM Z71 wheels to make some money back...

Thoughts? Am I crazy?

Should look good. I like the tough offroad/tactical look more than the blinged out. What are your other plans to match the wheels?

To be honest, I don't think I'll do much more to the exterior...

I have a little bit of chrome left (trim around the grille and inside the headlight housings) and I'm not going to paint over it or remove it so I might as well embrace it. That's why I thought the chrome center caps would look good.

I'll probably paint the grille and tailgate bowties black...and paint the bowties on the wheel center caps black, too. Then I think I'm about done with the exterior... I already did the leveling kit, debadged, demoulded, removed the running boards, trimmed the front air dam, and put 20% tint over factory tint...

In my opinion the wheels that you have on there look pretty good with that color. To each his own, but I would stick with the OEMs

only thing i would do is paint the chevy emblem black on the center of the cap my .02
Yeah, I think I'll go ahead and paint the center cap bowties and the grille/tailgate bowties black... That should look pretty good.

I do like the Z71 OEMs and I do think they look good as they are right now....but I just want to do something different. I'll try it out for a couple weeks... If I'm still on the fence then I should be able to sell the steelies and new tires and make most--if not all--of my money back since I got such a deal on the wheels/caps/TPMS sensors...

Paint the chrome center cap black to match the wheels and tint your tails and 3rd brake light to tie in some black!

I agree.

The steelies are gonna look good with some aggressive looking tires. Post up some pics when you get them on.

I almost bought a set of tinted tails awhile back but decided I just didn't like them much on the silver birch trucks... I think they look INCREDIBLE on black vehicles but for some reason it just doesn't look right to me on the silver vehicles. I don't think it looks bad, but I just like the red better... I'll keep it in mind after I get the new wheels on, though. Maybe I'll play around with it on Photoshop...

I bought an extra set of the center caps off eBay last night so I might take the four worst ones and mess around with painting them black to match the wheels to see how it looks....but for now I think I'll stick with the chrome Police Tahoe look.

Thanks for all the comments, fellas. Giving me some good ideas!
