SW CT,
I think you will get the look you are going for with the steelies, but I also think you are going to get bored of them very quickly...I would sell them now and use the money from the sale to powdercoat your Z71 wheels.

You very well may be right....dammit... But I at least have to give them a try. Maybe I'll plan on just hanging on to my Z71 wheels and get them PC'd eventually and try to find a deal on a set of beefy tires... Then down the road I can put them back on and sell the steelies... It might not be the most fiscally responsible strategy but oh, well...

Thanks for the input, though... I fear you may be correct! :)

keep it up

:party33:
I picked up some stock 17" black steelies/Police Tahoe wheels with TPMS sensors and chrome center caps for diiiiiiiiirttttt cheap over the weekend... I'm going to get some 285/70R17 all terrains to mount on them and then throw them on the Tahoe... I need to clean them up and repaint them, and I'll use the stick on weights on the inside of the wheel instead of the weights on the outer lip, too.

I know they're not for everyone but I've been going for the ultimate plain, clean, sleek, utilitarian look for my Tahoe and I think these are going to finish it off nicely. Once I get them mounted up I'll run them for a couple weeks and make sure I like them...then I'll probably sell my OEM Z71 wheels to make some money back...

Thoughts? Am I crazy?

I'm trying to find a good deal on tires... Cheapest I can find Duratracs is from DTD for about $940 shipped + mount/balance. I have a glimmer of hope from a random source that I might be able to get some for wholesale cost, but who knows if that will come to fruition...Either way I'm holding out to wait and see! The waiting is driving me crazy, though!

I'm new here. I am thinking of picking up a set of the black steel wheels with the chrome center caps that a local guy has for sale as well. But, mine will be on a 95 green Tahoe 4x4 and will transfer my 265/70r17 BFG TA All Terrain tires from my 07 truck to them. That way, I can put 33x12.50r17 ProComp A/T on my truck with the stock rims.

i had a set of black steelies on my jeep cherokee with a 6 inch lift and 33s, i thought it looked good. they were 15 inch wheels, these 17s would look even better, cant beat that price with a stick!

then I'll probably sell my OEM Z71 wheels to make some money back...

No.... I think you're doing the right thing. I tell you what. I 'll even help you with the situation. I'll take those Z71 wheels off your hands for like $200. I know, I know, that's alot more than you thought you could get for them but I'm always there for fellow forum members in time of need :Handshake:

:Big Laugh:

Good luck, kep the stockers in your garage. you'll grow board of the steelies in a month or two and be glad you have the Z71's to go back to.

Ok...well....I was going to have to paint those black steelies that I got because they had some scratches and a couple dings...

So on Saturday I ended up finding a set of the silver 17" steel work truck wheels (like the ones in the attachment) with a set of LT tires on them, lug nuts, and the gray center caps for only $150!!!!!!!! The tires aren't in great shape, but they'd last through a winter at least...

I can definitely pull the tires off and sell them for $150 by themselves! I'm also going to sell the black steel wheels I got a couple weeks ago... I just have to wait for some warmer weather before I can paint these things...I probably wouldn't be able to make it look that great painting in my 35°F garage... F'n winter...

Hey Tony, these used Z71 wheel/tire packages are going for $1100+ locally....but I'll give them to you for free....if you pay about $1,100 in shipping costs. :)
