Well....here are the work truck wheels/tires that I picked up for cheap...

My buddy has access to a tire machine so I'm just waiting until we have some spare time so I can go bust them off the wheels.

For now I'll get them cleaned and prepped for paint but then I need the friggin' temperature to warm up significantly... I have a 3000W electric heater for my garage but I can only get about 15-20°F rise out of it over the ambient temp. Not warm enough to lay down paint when it's friggin 10°F outside...

Ha....I'm not going to pay more to powdercoat the wheels than I paid to buy the whole set + crappy tires.

I have plenty of experience doing paint prep and body work (completely restored two '69 Mustangs and prepped one '52 Chevy Deluxe 4-dr for paint) so I'm pretty confident these wheels won't be too much of a hassle. I got some Duplicolor black wheel coating and clear coat, some good self-etching primer for the bare spots, and some primer sealer to coat everything before color. I think they'll turn out just fine... Obviously, they won't be as durable as PC...but they'll be ok.

Ok that sounds good now, I thought you were a paint noob.
As long as you prep the hell out of them, then CC them a good amount it will last long!

Yep, not too bad of a project, really... :Handshake: The paint on my '69 Fastback is 7 years old...and it looks as good today as it did 7 years ago. :) It took a TON of cutting/patching/pulling/pushing/cussing/bleeding/sweating/sanding/welding to get it to look all purdy. It was a total nutcase when I got it...rust EVERYWHERE. And seven years later--still no rust!

sweet looking yellow jet ski in that pic
It's a buddy's that I'm just storing for a couple months...I wish it were mine! They're fun little buggers....

Finally an update! The weather has finally improved to conditions that I can paint in my garage without having issues with paint quality...

Fully cleaned/sanded/prepped...etching primer on bare metal....2 coats primer sealer....3 coats Duplicolor wheel coating.....4 coats Duplicolor wheel clear coat...

I've got a small heater in the garage running 24hrs/day to help cure the paint. I finished spraying them Friday night so I'll probably wait until later this week to take them to the shop to have the Duratracs mounted.
