Need some advice. I had just pulled into a parking spot at the store and was about to get out, with the old man on the other side backed up into me.

I got out to see what the hell happened and he started to pull away. Had to run after him and bang on his car to get his attention. He pulled back around. I look and there’s some scrapes and paint missing. It’s possible they were there from before but I didn’t want to take that chance and brush it off.

What pissed me off even more is I had literally JUST finished polishing and waxing my whole rig before I went out. Old man never even apologized. No damage on his car. Got all his info but I don’t know what to do. I’m more upset about this whole ordeal than anything. I know going through insurance is probably useless.

How the hell does he have a backup camera, backup sensors, mirrors, and STILL manages to hit me??

Sorry for the rant, just pretty miffed and worked up right now.

That’s a bummer.

Had a similar deal happen to me a few years ago. Elderly gentleman backed into the front of my truck right in front of me and some others in the grocery store parking lot. Scared the crap out of my son who was reading a book in the front seat while I ran in quick. Only damage was it popped a plastic insert out of the bumper which went back in, but the fact that he didn’t seem to give a rats ass just pissed me off then his elderly wife said, “He barely hit it so why are you upset?” I was in total disbelief at that moment and had to walk away before I ended up in jail.

I’d talk to your local body shop and see what it would cost to fix then have a discussion with your insurance agent to see what your options are. Sometimes you can make a claim directly to their insurance company and not have it go against your policy as a claim.

Oh, by the by, Not that it’s any of my business, but I’m not sure your vehicle meets COMPACT car status.o_O

rule one. always get a police report. dont let the old guy bail.

as long as you got his info, call his ins co and let them know he hit you. you know he didnt call em. go get a few est for the repair and send it in to them.

Good catch, compact car. Yes, get estimates and turn in to his insurance. If the insurance says his client did not hit you, ask why he gave contact info then. Did you take pics of his car? You said no damage. Bet there was at least a little bit.

I'm not sure I understand this. You just finished polishing and waxing your rig but don't know if the scrapes were there before the parking lot incident? Confused.

I’ve only had it about a month so far. It had some scrapes when I got it so I’m not sure if it was one that was there from before or not. I don’t recall the paint missing from the bumper. I did touch ups a couple weeks ago and I figure I would have spotted a missing chunk if it was there before.

Lol the spot used to be compact. They widened them and just did a ****** job of removing the old markings.

No, only pic I have of his car was one I quick snapped of his plate as I ran after him when he started to leave. I didn’t see much of anything when I looked at his car.

Police won’t come to minor fender benders like that around here, do they do that where you are?

File a claim with his insurance, it won’t count as a claim on yours. That’s $500-$700 easy.
