My conscience is getting to me now... I don’t know if I could do that to an elderly man with a disabled wife [emoji21]
But he did the damage! You said he hit you. Plus at least most of that is new. Even if there was a tiny scrape there he did the rest, and they can’t only fix it back to it’s less-damaged condition. You asked for advice. If you don’t want to file a claim against his insurance, what exactly do you want yo do? I’m confused. His rates won’t go up unless he’s had a couple or more claims. I mean, what’s insurance for if they don’t pay on claims?

They don’t go up? Sorry, never filed a claim before so not quite sure how it works.

I was kind of hoping he’d just offer me some cash and we’d be done with it. I don’t want to make things harder for him.

Normally rates don’t go up for minor accidents like this unless there’s been more that one in the last year or two. So ask him how he wants to handle it, leave it up to him but he needs to be responsible. Go get a couple estimates first to see what kind of money you’re talking about so he can decide.

Need some advice. I had just pulled into a parking spot at the store and was about to get out, with the old man on the other side backed up into me.

I got out to see what the hell happened and he started to pull away. Had to run after him and bang on his car to get his attention. He pulled back around. I look and there’s some scrapes and paint missing. It’s possible they were there from before but I didn’t want to take that chance and brush it off.

What pissed me off even more is I had literally JUST finished polishing and waxing my whole rig before I went out. Old man never even apologized. No damage on his car. Got all his info but I don’t know what to do. I’m more upset about this whole ordeal than anything. I know going through insurance is probably useless.

How the hell does he have a backup camera, backup sensors, mirrors, and STILL manages to hit me??

Sorry for the rant, just pretty miffed and worked up right now.

Police won’t come to minor fender benders like that around here, do they do that where you are?

for a hit and run, hell yes they show up. iirc NY dont write a report unless, the cop, thinks its over 500 in damage.

here in NJ they show up for anything. its the only way to not have so much of a he said he said deal going on.

His wasn’t hit and run. He got the dudes info, and it was minor. Here they don’t do anything in that case unless there’s an injury. It used to be $500 in damage but that was 10 years ago, now a tiny scratch is $500. There isn’t enough cops to do that anymore, they’re busy investigating all the shootings and policing the riots. The world has gone to shit in the last year.

im telling you here where i live, you call for a fender bender the cops show up, they do a report.

maybe your town sucks, but mine does its job. they have not cut the police budget here yet either. see how well that craps working out for you all in Oregon.

and if you chase some one down to stop em, thats a hit and run still. they just failed to get away.
