not sure. probably just till pressure is built. could be anywhere from 5-15-20 full seconds? get yourself a fuel pressure gauge and actually accurately diagnose your problem. i bought one years ago for $30. has come in handy many times. pressure with key on will be between 45-50psi on a healthy pump. around the same at idle. i only had 18 psi or so and no leaks. fuel pump it was.

Thanks for the info and the great write up, I dropped my tank just a bit ago and got the fuel pump out!! Unhooked the plug going to the fuel pump put my dc power supply to it and sure enough dead as a door nail!! So now just waiting for my dad to see how much cheaper he can get an OEM one for, 2 different dealerships want $521.28 for one!! OUCH!!! ha ha ha!

Also took some pics while I was waiting and will post them up on here for others to see what it takes, once you know what you have to do it's pretty easy!!

521.28 is what I paid for mine when I just had it replaced 2 weeks ago. That and about 1.5-2 hours labor for my mechanic to put it in for me. Didnt feel like dealing with replacing another fuel pump. Done it once and that was enough that $200 in labor is worth it to me when the part was that much. Also mine didnt fail prior to replacement, but I did have the occasional hard start and mechanic said he could hear the old pump bumping and popping in the tank, turned out the pickup tube had cracked (like sucking soda thru a straw with a crack).
