My Wife has the itch for something new, and since I have auto-ADD, I usually support her decision for new(er) vehicles :happy175:

With that said, we've got an '07 Z71 4x4, Summit w/two-tone black interior, fully loaded. It has right at 80k miles (fairly low for the year). It's a southern truck so no rust, and 4x4 rarely used. I put it in to make sure it worked when we bought it, and have used it a few times since just to keep it lubed.

New slotted/drilled brakes I bought from a vendor here, new tires (BFG Rugged terrains 275/60R20), 2" front spacer and 1" rear, rides and drives great. No mechanical issues or prior accidents. Overall a great vehicle, she just wants something new.

The market on these seems to vary quite a bit so I was hoping someone would be able to tell me about what to expect for a trade or if I were to take it to CarMax or something similar.

Any input is appreciated.

Here's an older pic (before new tires and brakes):

Thanks

For a trade in, probably close to $20k...maybe less since it's lifted. I would return it to stock (if possible) and then part out the wheels and lift kit.

IMO I would keep it.. If you really wanna sell it cash and its yours take it to a dealer auction near you and it will sell decent

Luckily, I worked as a car salesman at a Chevrolet dealership and might be able to help you out some. The 4x4 Z71 Tahoes have an awesome trade in value however, it still may not be what you want to hear. It is all about what the market and auctions are doing and the dealerships adjust their trade-in value accordingly.

Your wife's Tahoe is a very uncommon package, so they may bump you up a few grand. No one can tell you what you'll get for your wife's Tahoe because it is all up the the Used Car Manager. I will say that all of the easily accessible automotive sites, like KBB, Edmunds, etc are just guides. Most of the customers that came through our doors wanting to trade in, left in frustration, anger or were disappointed because we didn't give what they saw on their computer.

Shop around. If you have a copy of the trade-in form and take it with you to other dealerships, sometimes you can getting into a trade-in war and you'll then have options. The one thing a dealership wants is your business and they will do anything to get it.

To be honest, I don't think you are going to get more then 17k for trade in. Just trading in compaired to selling them yourself you lose so much more. IMO.. Check KBB and see what trade in value is and go from there.

Try to sell private party as is OR partially de-mod(as mentioned) and still sell private party. Dealers will rake you over the coals on trade in value. Be patient and you will make a lot more $$ on your sale.

I was offered $17.5 a few months back. KBB and NADA are around $19-20k, auto trader guaranteed trade value is $16.8. I'd rather Not de-mod but I may. I'll probably put it up for sale personally and see what happens.

You may have better luck on a trade in if you take off the spacers and put some stock wheels on it...those generally give managers a bad feeling that the truck has been abused.

To get the most out of it sell it out right via CL or eBay. Do NOT do the auction idea unless you just want the cash and don't care about getting the most out of your ride. You'll get less than trade-in value by using Gzes's idea of going to the auction :)
